CCP has made the first step towards more cloaky ships with the SOE ships that came out with Rubicon. Today the following news was shared with the EVE community earlier today:

According to reports, associates of the Angel Cartel, Blood Raiders, Guristas, Intaki Syndicate, and Serpentis have been putting out feelers amongst capsuleers about recovering equipment salvage from the so-called “ghost sites” that have been appearing recently. These ghost sites, which have been declared off-limits by CONCORD, appear to be related to some form of cutting-edge research being conducted by various outlaw groups. In addition to retrieving numerous pieces of salvage and blueprints for the manufacture of ‘Ascendency’ implants, many have also taken “covert research tools” from the sites. It is apparently these tools which are being sought out by the pirate groups. Rumors indicate that the pirates will soon be creating buy orders through go-betweens in order to recover them.

The only pirate race next to The Sisters of EVE that have covert ops ships are The Angel Cartel. Im very interested in interested in what the eve devs will come up with because this will definitely affect EVE in a huge way.

do you have any ideas about the new covert ops ships? then please let us know in the discussion box below!

CCP Dumpster told me that we’re going to have covert ops supercarriers. (Covert ops avatar already exists:

I am not a bear :[ I just think that things such as nullifiers, cloaking and local chat does not belong into eve.

sheez cry more about cloaking…. PLEASE…. lil babbies….
all cloaky ships have crap dps, crap tank…. a.k.a. limited use
the soe frig is only good for hacking sites and the cruiser just looks cool… a legion could do anything the stratios does only better ( eccept for hacking sites )
also the soe ships dont give bonus for reactivating ur cloak so it does require a lil more focus then the other t2 cloaky ships

I suggest you to fit both ships in EFT and check their DPS. You will be surprised. Also drones can vary type of dmg, do not require capacitor to fire, have much greater range, do not require high slots, can jam/salvage/repair. So yeah, “anything the stratios does only better”.

A stratios is a very good solo pvp ship if youfit it correctly. Perfect for killing ratting scrubs.

The people who cry about cloaking are the renters. The rent one system, get camped by a cloaker and refuse to have 1 guy ready with an interceptor ready to deal with them. I mean seriously, you could probably pay someone to do it fairly cheap. The cloaker will then just fuck off and find someone easier to pick on, or he’ll try to gank and die. Probably won’t come back. Instead of this, they spam the forums with “OMG AFK NOT FAIR” because they think they should be able to bear in null with 0 protection making tons of money while not prepared for such a simple form of pvp.

Decloak, tackle, light covert cyno. How an interceptor can deal with them?

Because he also has a fleet waiting 23/7 for his cyno too, amiright?

I pve in a pvp fit,I’ve got a lot of kills on people attempting to gank me. Yes, it slows down the income a little, but instead of crying like a bitch when a ganker comes, I murder them. Sometimes they get away, and guess how often they come back after that.

You want to bear all day risk free, go to highsec. High risk = High reward.

      2. You can do the same thing

Have cyno ready in utility slot, counter drop. I bet if you did that 1 time they’d fuck off.

There is too much cloaking crap in EVE already, it’s already hard enough finding PvP targets that don’t cloak up the second you appear on grid. Cloaks don’t generate flights, they just help cowards avoid fights.

The problem aint the pro cloakers who active gank pve or pvp targets.
The problem is afk cloaking for 23.5 hours a day while not behind the pc and neut a whole system down from income or activities.

Yep…a lot of those cloacky campers do this for a week then ask the renters to give a few 100 mills and he/they will leave. Easy ISKs!!

Tell me how a player that is “afk cloaking for 23.5 hours a day” can be any threat to you? Oh, what’s that? In case they aren’t afk and asplode your ship – gotcha! Sounds like working as intended to me.

If there was some way to provoke a fight or actually tell the difference between “afk cloaky” and “about to cyno in 30 SB cloaky”… I’d agree with you. As of right now… it’s spending 23.5 hours on high alert making less isk than a high sec mission runner (before maurder buff) with NO WAY TO PROVOKE ACTION. You properly prepare, they don’t come and just wait until everyone is bored out of there mind.

but there’s a NEUTRAL in OUR RENTED SYSTEM! *cry cry* We are peaceful, and pay good money for system – read: worthless pve scrubs! We cannot defend ourselves, even if we got paid to do it. WONT SOMEONE THINK OF ONLY US AND CHANGE GAME SO IT SUITS OUR RETARDED PLAYSTYLE? also, i don’t want to actually interact with others, so i must be able to kill everyone who enters our system solo, surely you understand? Also, i have no idea what expression “counter-format” means. It’s some sort of cheese, right? I must learn new tactics to survive in 0.0? no way, i can play the same way its in highsec. Just nerf everyone else, NERF IT dammit, im too important to fail!

Yes, because that’s totally what I said… You twat.

It’s boring and annoying. Plan properly for blops and it never comes, but they’ll still be there, taking up time and of multiple people. It’s the cock tease of PvP. I don’t want it nerfed, BUT FOR FUCK SAKE AT LEAST GIVE US A CHANCE TO CATCH THE LITTLE SHIT if he’s off doing laundry or banging your mom.

as long as they come up with a mechanic like heat build up over time to address afk cloakers I am kewl with it. I love cov-ops but logging in a toon cloaked in a system and going afk is not a valid risk / reward imho …

Aslong as they make a counter for cloak there shouldnt be any issue at all with covert ops ship.

Wow, ccp, so bad. the game needs less covert-ops ships not more. It’s breaking the game having so many ways to travel at very low risk. They should be encouraging conflict and PvP not making it so your wasting your time roaming because every potential target is immune from bubbles and/or cloaky, not to mention the other many ways to avoid any risk.
