CCP Rise just announced an Electronic Attack ships revamps, and I must say it was about good damn time! read on!

Heyo – it’s ship balance time again!

Sounds like you guys are getting a bunch of this on sisi really soon so we might as well get feedback rolling. We are going to hit you with several threads at once so it may take us a few days to start processing and get back to you. Don’t worry though I read it all and you are each special to me so let us know what you think!

GOALS

Make them more useful
Make them sensible in relation to the new t1 disruption frigs
Avoid overlap with other classes (interceptors and disruption frigs?)

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

Increased the range bonus from Electronic Attack Ship skill on all four ships significantly
Slightly increased base hp
Slightly increased maxvelocity
Increased lock range significantly
Increased cap recharge from 1.33/sec to around 2/sec (this is a big deal)

Increasing the range for points/webs/ecm/neuts on these ships should hopefully make them useful enough to show up in lighter/faster fleets that need recon type support but want either faster or cheaper ships doing it. The base stat buffs are to bring them close to where the disruptions frigs are.

SENTINEL

Amarr Frigate Bonuses:
20% bonus to energy vampire and energy neutralizer transfer amount per level
7.5% bonus to effectiveness of tracking disruptors per level

Electronic Attack Ships Bonuses:
80% bonus to energy vampire and energy neutralizer range per level (+40% per level)
5% reduction in capacitor recharge time per level

Slot layout: 3H, 4M, 3L; 2 turrets, 0 launchers
Fittings: 40 PWG, 195 CPU
Defense (shields / armor / hull) : 300(+25) / 425(+50) / 375(+25)

      That’s going to be 70km webs at level 5. With a T2 web. Using Faction webs, you’ll be able to sig tank at 100km with webs applied.

        Erm. 50km webs at lvl 5. Still, that’s insane for a frigate. You’ll see a lot more Assault Frig Fleets with Hyena/Keres/Kitsune/Sentinal Support. Or destroyer fleets.

          I’m not really sure. A rapier have 60% bonus and that makes the t2 web go to 40km. Wouldn’t a 50% bonus then give about 35is km then?

            well yes a rapier has 60% range on webs as a ROLE BONUS.
            this thing here has actually 50% PER LEVEL ie 250% at level 5

    you are stupid for saying the hyena is useless let alone still be useless. webs are a key to small gang pvp and the ability to have a frig do it with such speed and range is the real deal. i guess big blob alliances wouldn’t know of such things

    So we must presume CCP wants more damage done with untrained alts? Because let’s not be childish: they don’t give a f*ck about small gang stuff. This style, noone will fly T2 stuff anymore, once they start making T1 better, cost/efficiency wise. Like i read somewhere, maybe in 2 years we will fly all Oblivion fitted Ibises ? Just for sum fu*kers to have their cheapskate pew?

        The Lach specifies Disrupt and Scrams where as the Keres only specifies Disrupt.

    The kitsune will be even more OP as fuck as ecm on frigates is OP as fuck, in the entire game there is no one ship other then the kitsune/griffin that can simply kill off all damage incoming to 4-5 enemy’s of the same class with nigh immunity, eccm simply doesn’t work for frigates as its a percentage based increase.

    The griffin is the bane of small ships small gangs, and FW farmers simply farm in griffins as they are pretty much impossible to catch, a full rack of multi’s will perma jam 3 dudes without question, its fucking OP as hell and only getting worse.

    I like the range bonus alot, and the cap change too. But really, i think it is slightly the wrong screw to turn in this case. The Ewar capabilities of EAFs are already great. They are fun to fly (my personal favorites in terms of a fun frigate sized ship are the Sentinel and Hyena) but they have one severe weakness in common: they pop easier than any other ship in EvE.

    Rather than increasing the already formidable ewar-capabilities these fine frigates have, i think letting them fit even a slight bit of tank without sacrificing too much ewar at the same time would really make them more viable in a gang and would provide a more solid justification to bring them in a wolfpack gang.

    TL;DR:
    These changes are very welcome, but to see EAFs used widely, they need to not die on the first salvo.
