Less than a day in our new home at 4-EP12 and we are already out exploring our new neighborhood.

Actually, somebody had already been out and about in the neighborhood, as we had a tower in one of the systems, G95F-H. On the DOTLAN map that system looks fairly distant, being 8 jumps away and in another constellation. But in the actual shape of space within the game, it is much closer, within range of a titan bridge from 4-EP12.

Using the in-game map

Using the in-game map

It is hard to tell with the thumbnail, but expanded you can see the two system. Along the top of the map are the familiar string of systems leading back to the edge of the region and the J5A system.

Anyway, the tower in G95F-H had been put into reinforce and intel had it that TEST was going to come out to try and finish the job. So the call went out for Baltec fleet.

The "How To" of Baltec Fleet

The “How To” of Baltec Fleet

We ended up with two fleets, one under Vily and one under Mister Vee. Gaff and I and a couple of other corp mates actually ended up in Mister Vee’s fleet together.

As has become the natural order of things, just the strain of the two fleets undocking put the system in 10% time dilation. If I were to write my friendly and helpful CSM representative about something, it would be the way that such transitions drag the system down. It is one thing when we are fighting in a huge battle and there is a lot of flying hardware to track. But a couple hundred people undocking ought not to push the system to its limits. Null sec issues, I know.

Mister Vee got us all on the titan and, except for a couple of people who brought Tempest Fleet Issue battleships to the party… and who were asked to trade them out for something more appropriate, which included The Mittani coming into coms to say that such ships would not be reimbursed as they were not part of the doctrine… we seemed to have our act together.

We bridged out and warped to the tower, where Mister Vee had us spread out and orbit it just outside of the range of the shield, so we looked like we were sailing around on a crystal sphere. The timer on the tower showed just a few minutes left.

The Countdown

The Countdown

Spread out and waiting, the word came that the elusive Prophecy fleet, which left us waiting just the other day, was on its way. As the timer neared zero, a cyno was lit and hostiles began filling up local. The timer finished, the tower came out of reinforce, and Mister Vee said, “Here they come.”

They landed on grid. They were bubbled up. And they were murdered.

Take a look at the battle summary over at dog-net.org. (Based on this report at eve-kill.net) Here is the key table. Blue is TEST and ally loses, red is CFC losses, capsules are not included in the ship total at the top.

G95_DogNetKillSummary

We outnumbered them, 470 to 284. We out gunned them, with a large battleship force facing battlecruisers and bombers. And, frankly, we out fought them. They laid alongside us to duke it out, got bubbled, and paid the price. Their attempts to use the crazy drone capabilities of the Prophecy (drone link augmentors and drone damage amplifiers were part of their standard fit, so I assume they were going to assign all drones to assist the FC ala Jester’s Techno Chicken fit description) did not come to fruition. Meanwhile the Megathrons were chewing them up to the point that I turned auto repeat off on my guns, as one broadside per target was generally enough. Of course, if the odds are against you, your fleet doctrine might not be your problem.

If you look at the full report, you will see that it was pretty much just TEST and Tribal Band facing us. If that is how they manage without their allies, I am going to have to go along with Kirith Kodachi’s estimate that TEST is screwed. We filled up two fleets and had to turn people away. Getting participation isn’t an issue for us at the moment. My main problem during the battle was locking and firing at targets before the were destroyed. Even Mister Vee sounded a bit nonplussed about the ease of our victory.

102 Prophecy and 24 Hurricane battlecruisers destroyed. Mister Vee had us “fofofo” in local.

We fofofo

We fofofo

The “fofofo” tradition goes back to the days of Ultima Online according to the Goon wiki, from which I stole these pictures.

Let us "fofofo"

Let us “fofofo”

Why we actually do it is still a bit murky, but who am I to gainsay such a tradition?

And then, as the enemy that remained withdrew, several carriers jumped in to rep the tower. Finally, a titan jumped in to bridge us back to 4-EP. All in all, a great event for padding kill totals for us, but what must have been something of a morale breaker for TEST.

We shall see. While one battle does not make a war, TEST’s performance without its allies does not bode well for them.

As per usual, some pictures of the operation taken along the way has been posted in my blog, go there and take a look.

War… War never changes… Whether its the fielding of one soldier or a thousand.. The target will always complain about the winners tactics being unfair. The only thing that causes people to lose against the cluster fuck is the lack of ability for them to form a better defense. To gather superior finances, and to field superior armor. If the most hated alliance can field better numbers then the favored alliance has issues

Don’t like CFC sorry mate, but I do respect there ability to always fill there fleets. They have everyone wanting to kill them, but someone can decently keep the numbers up. That I openly respect. Wish my own corp and past alliances i have flown with could keep player activity and log ins that high. I have been on the bad end of the number games many times. Still respect it.

Well since I am being deemed “kittens” and a “cfc” pilot.. I guess this makes you a testie… And apparently you ran out of counter arguments much like TEST is running out of ships, so now you are fielding other players used responses to try to win this. Don’t think it helped them in this situation either.

This goon^^ is keeping it real. The actual fight involved primarily goons killing t1 logi and n3/test killing 25 megas and some other crap. When our logi died we de-agro’d and burnt to the gate and jumped. Then u murdered the unfortunate masses we left behind in our retreat.

Gotta say, when u claim “we out fought them” i need you to think about something.

A 250 man Battlecruisers fleet stood up willingy against 2+ mega feets and a slowcat fleet and a celestis fleet and we managed to keep the fight respectable and the isk war surprisingly close.

“We outnumbered them, 470 to 284.” Yes, yes, all of nullsec is familiar with how Goons can’t fight when it’s even. Although maybe they proved themselves in the Alliance Tournament? Oh that’s right, they lost both matches and were eliminated this weekend, while Test beat both matches including one against Razor. I’m not a Testie but I love an underdog, and I am amazed at how the diplomacy of Kittens has enabled a small corp to run a medium sized alliance and from there govern the largest coalition in EvE.

War should never be a fair fight. Wars have never been about good fights, or sportsmanship. It’s war. War is supposed to be hell, unfair, and downright mean. Only a losing side complains about fairness, whether test, cfc or someone else. This is war, the winner should always be decided upon strategy, numbers and hardware.

This isn’t real life. Wars in a game should be about good fights (in my opinion) which is why the first Geminate war will always be my favorite war. Solar/GypsyBand vs Nc./Evoke with roughly equal numbers and neither side blueballing each other for the most part. Both sides welped spectacularly over the course of the war but still showed up the next day with updated strategies and fits to go at it again. Instead we get wars like this. The no-fun, blueballthemtodeath, only engage with total superiority wars that are typical of CFC wars. Maybe it’s just me but an internet spaceship war should be fun not about who can make the other side get bored first. (just my opinion of course)

So let me get this right. You’d give everyone fun by leaving half of them out of the fight and going with crappy ships because that’s what TEST has? Then when PL/N3/NC. hotdrop you you’d then do what?

Don’t be ridiculous. This is a PvP game and we play to win, that’s where the fun lies. It’s not up to us to provide TEST with fun by making our members sit fights out. It’s up to their leadership to generate their content, and if they fail to do that, their alliance falls and their members can move on to greener pastures.

You don’t have to cut your numbers but a majority of the time your strategy was to blue ball whenever possible and to only shoot stuff in bombers so that if anyone came to fight you then you can just cloak up and wait until we went away. Cfc’s pride in their no fun allowed let’s blueball if the numbers are even is the part I disapprove of.

            July 22, 2013 at 5:20 pm
          2. Tim

We blueball where it’s strategically advantageous. We see the war as a whole, not one battle at a time. What’s the point in costing a fleet to a battle you can only just scrap a win, then fail to get the timer when it comes out, when you can blueball, get the timer on the 2nd hit when they don’t show up then fight tooth and nail for the final.

We always want to provide fun for our members, and deny fun to the enemy, that wins wars. TEST should be trying to make us have no fun while they have fun, they just suck at it.

As I said, that is a shitty mindset to have for a game in my opinion at least. What is the point of wasting your own time by forming up and then blueballing unless the odds are so unfavorable to the point of making it pointless to fight which was not the case with a majority of the time that CFC blueballed. I guess good fights are a foreign concept to all CFC members.

          4. Michael Carson

Personally and I am not in this war, I fully believe in play To Win. Not play for a Good fight. My mindset of a Good fight is the fight went the way I strategically set forth. It scored a wIn. Whether superior Numbers Or Isk spent on Armor. I don’t Play for a Good fight or just to get in a fleet and lets blow something up. If I am in a fleet, my FC better have his Strategy Set, And the Plan for success set. Eve Is about holding Ground, Maintaining and Isk Flow and holding Sov if your in Null. It’s not about shaking hands with the enemy, Its not about Saying Great chaps come back next time. There is a Risk to Losses in Eve. That is how I like to see Alliances and Fleets Running. As the coined Phrase Goes ” Internet Spaceships is Serious Business”, or Spreadsheets Online. Everything in Eve From Wars, To isk, Is about Numbers. Play To win or Don’t Play. Casual Games are available on MMOrpg dot com.

          5. anonymous

That is not what I meant at all. I agree war should have loss and there should be risk but that doesn’t mean there should be no good fights. In our war vs Solar there was tech and space at stake. Capitals were lost on both sides and very nearly supers and titans. Every fight was a risk but that didn’t mean we backed down because there was a chance we could lose that fight it meant we stepped up and figured out ways to take the fight. If we lost because we were outsmarted or unlucky then so be it. It doesn’t make it any less fun because we had a fight and both sides could walk away saying damn this war was awesome even if we won/lost depending on what side you were on. Strategies throughout the war changed in attempts to outplay our opponent. Traps were set and we both did everything we could to win. CFC prefers to blueball potentially awesome fights even if strategically it has no relevance which from my point of view makes no sense.

Noone is saying TEST can’t fight. That’s why you did with in AT so far. The problem is, AT is simple as you only need to field 10-12 people. In the war you should be looking for slightly higher numbers than that.

If goons win by outnumbering you, they still win, no matter how many tears you shed.

Test had already told everyone that goons had over 900 people and we still went in as this was going to be a great fight. When they only had two fleets on the field they were getting dunked, but that changed when the rest showed up including slowcats and dreads.

The reality is, PL is using alliance tournament as an excuse to ditch TEST/N3. Part of their exit strategy they created after humiliating losses on Z9PP- & 3WE- at the start of July.

Who knows, maybe PL might try to do a backroom deal with CFC that involves PL keeping their rental empire while dividing up TEST & N3’s space with CFC. They’ve done it several times before…

It’s amazing how all the trolls come out of the wood work saying.. Test needs to have their hands held… Test friends this.. Test Friends that… Might want to get down off your high horse and face reality that not one of the CFC alliances would hold a candle on their own. And hmmm when did the CFC start even being able to push back? With the hiring of BL. Without the help of BL you would all be whining “they keep station camping B-D”… “They are out blobbing us..” Enjoy the smug, as your day will come.

Yeah, that’s why the CFC are a tight knit group… Because cooperation wins. You don’t have the cooperation of a group, you’ve got a bunch of randoms who fancy helping today but may not tomorrow. Maybe you need to work on your diplomacy.

Not that it matters, it’s so incredibly over.

I been on a few of these N3 Lead prophecy fleets, Last night we engaged goons, who had a full fleet of megas,

We decided not to blue ball and fight we killed 4.2 bill to our 1.4 bill loss.(about kills on both sides)

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=18851755

maybe that N3 is a little more compentent.

here is another skirmish but still CFC heavy losses.

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=18853924

I dont see where CFC is wining test is screwed.

Here is another one i believe the one.

Earlier today. We lost the isk war. But these BC ships are very cheap easy for someone
casually playing a hour or so, even tho we get srp.

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=18852632

I think the longer this war goes on , the more CFC is screwed,
Then have no renter income. There space barely covers there sov/ fleets losses.

But there stockpile will run out.

look on the map. the second n3 redeployed, u lost a handful of systems. don’t look on specific battles (about 3 at number where u won) look at the war as a picture. 1 or 2 more rape like those in 9-VO0Q, and u are going to be homeless.. The second fountain gets under CFC, n3 will feast from delve and your members will start knocking at doors, for someone to accept them (most of them started already). sow, have fun as long as u can. your 0.0 experiment will be over soon. And this is what u get for biting the hand that feed u. If u would just appreciated what goons did for u, you would be now on the winning side, taking candy from another alliance.

Have fun, fly safe.. or not.

But letting this aside: Test will never get Fountain back. Or maybe they will rent there, if they win. Nice change for a bold, mighty, white knight alliance, isn’t it?
Btw, i know for shure you guys lost some dreads today. Wutwut? No SRP?

You may have 25 Trillion isk, but you have no pay check sort to speak,

I think you misunderstand the war chest that sitting on the majority of technetium for 2 years creates. Mix that with coordinated market crashes and spikes and a team of damn good investors and even the 100b is just a drop in a bucket.

Fountain is needed, because going forward CFC want to be able to continue to hold financial Superiorty. If the CFC is going to pay trillions of isk to welp fleets in Jita for years to come, it needs to maintain income.

You wouldn’t see an oil company dry up an oil well then say “ok boy i guess that’s it, lets go home and roll in our money”, they would find a new well and carry on.

      3. you fail.

First your an idiot who lives under a rock, second all of your questions have already been answered months ago but since you weren’t paying attention: They want fountain for the moon goo isk, they have spent almost 2 years with a monopoly on the bottleneck item in the moon reaction process, and have made more than little change on the “emergent game play” they like to create in higsec, specifically the interdicting of ice feilds to drive ice prices up after buying all the ice. 4 billion is a drop in the bucket plain and simple you not understanding how many zero’s are in the goon wallet doesn’t mean they aren’t there, it just means complex thoughts are over your head. they are not losing 5 bill a fight 5 times a day, TEST is, goons are loosing about 1-2 fleets out of 9-10 at this point so your 100 bill a week in losses is more like 25 bill on a bad week, but here’s the kicker, Nulli TRIBE and TEST are losing that hundred bill a week and they don’t have the pockets the goons do and you can see the effect in the dropping fleet numbers. And remember every one in N3 is losing twice a day now, they die to the goons in fountain and then clone jump back to the spire just to die to a Solar fleet in a different fleet flying another expensive ship. so yeah there are people who are going to start having wallet issues soon, but its not the goons.

N3 is supported by the largets renter empire in EVE, what is 100 billion a week when you pull in a hell of a lot more?

Goons always relied on their moons to support them, now tech moons have all dried up in their isk amounts you have very low income, sure you might have 20 odd trillion isk to get through, but you are not putting that isk back in the wallet, your a slowly leaking it, whereas N3 is in no way leaking any isk whatsoever

    Finally a war update !

To all test that cry like babies, about the blob of CFC:
Where are your numbers? 13k+ members! Barely forming a full fleet!

Do not cry that you are losing, if you haven’t even try to win.
You had NC. and PL suppers support!
You had N3 fleets to fight for your sov.

I leave in fountain for a very long time now. I can see why Test are losing.

It might have been that, test have become the ultra care-bear habitat :).
Local 30+ jump in with one, everyone dock up till danger passes…
Well maybe now everyone had logged off till this war is over ๐Ÿ˜€ !?

    Where is your NUMBERS TEST?!?

I have been there! In fact a lot of people have seen what I have seen, thanks to MAD_ANI’s stream …

Sum up of the war till now:
    1. NC. and PL supers Online = CFC dock up and wont fight unless they can bring 800 or 1000 people….
    2. N3 forming 2x sub capital fleets, joined by barely 200 test pilots to fight the 900-1000 CFC! (that was actually the best effort I have seen to push goons back! )

    3. NC. PL supers gone = CFC use dreads and a lot of them … takes 9v
    4. N3 gone .. TEST + TRIBE barely forms up one fleet!?

So wile on alliance sizes it looks like that TEST + Friends are more, the war looked like Test’s friends, deployed from the other side of EVE vs CFC…

The best part of this defense is they just as little of a life because they are the ones logged in losing to the guys logged in who are winning. But like the guy up at the top said test dones’t care about winning they just want to have fun dieing

fofo was the invention of a Japanese Ultima Online player ‘Tiger Fai’ who would continually have his goods stolen. Although he did not understand the concept of securing his own mined ore from the thieves of UO, he did however recognize those who stole it from him. In broken engrish he would mash the f and o keys declaring his foes for all to see.

    fofofoofofofofofofofofooo

    your MOM

The Goonfleet adaption of fofo was indroduced by our resident Australian M 87. Who also wrote MMO articles much like spleens.net on http://mouthbreathers.h8r.net. You might just be lucky enough to hear M 87 scream out ‘YOUR MOM’ on teamspeak some day

Etymological Note: ‘Fofo’ is used by some asians in much the same way we use ‘lolol.’

-Another prophecy fleet with 7 dreads were dunked on the 3rd engagement

Your SRP will soon fall if you keep paying BL to drop dreads and save you, you mention the Baltecs being victorious but BL have dropped blapdreads plenty times to sway the battle in your favour.

TEST and N3 for that matter are in no way Fooked, with an extremely large SRP and the fact that we don’t have to pay people to drop dreads for us, we can continue fighting for a very long time :)

This is a sad report and sums up the issues facing Eve.

-Use spies to find out the enemies fleet type and numbers.
    -Mass more pilots
-Use the correct fleet doctrine to defeat enemy fleet.

FYI, there is a reason why sports have leagues/levels/ratings. It is because a close game is a good game.
In eve close games/fights are extremely rare.

And that is what makes it sad.
