“Beyond my wildest dreams” is a new gimmick in TEST, coined by an awoxer who stole a smartbomb from the fleet hangar of a titan and awoxed some retrievers. He explained his actions as the value of the loot was beyond his wildest dreams and couldn’t resist it.

For more than a year I was suggesting that alliances should finance themselves on player contribution. I mean players already donate huge amount of time to their alliances, like flying stealthless-bombless stealth bombers grinding structures. If 200 people flying such crap for 2 hours without personal benefit is OK, 200 people ratting/mining and giving away the income (200*2*0.05 = 20B) should be equally OK.

But it’s not, because shooting an IHUB is awesome PvP fun, while mining is a horrible PvE activity that only carebears do. And no self-respecting PvP-er would tolerate filthy carebears in his alliance. Goons surely not who gave the order to their pet SMA to kick half of their members for being carebears. TEST is probably the only exception, with official squads for industry and ratting and people openly discussing ISK-making.

I recently rejoined TEST and suggested to have a killboard-like toplist for donators. It was built in record time. You can see it too, it’s not passworded, it’s open like the killboard. So, I offered 10B every month if they make it and foolishly offered to match any donations.

I expected people to give a couple ten millions. After all 1000 people donating one hour of ratting fruits is 50B. Corps may give a billion or two. Well, the results exceeded my wildest dreams. Members gave billions with ottawolf donating his whole saving for a supercarrier, 40B. Matching that was felt even by my wallet. Anyway, in the first few days of this running, 160B was collected, almost as much as the monthly moon income of Fountain. The list isn’t even complete, as many donated goods and not ISK, that needs to be manually added to the system.

This is just the beginning. Lot of people can and like making ISK, they just have no reason to. They farm enough to PLEX their account and buy a ship or two and that’s it. Unlike fleet PvP, there was no reward attached. No killboard, no people around to defeat or fly with. Now it became a badge of honor, these “carebears” are keeping the SRP running. Many will pick up their ratting or mining ship, pull out PI pilots out of the mothball or reactivate a highsec moneymaker. Because making ISK is no longer “spending unfun time for pixel money” but the mean to win the war. Also, moneymaking isn’t bound to fleet pings, you can do at any time, so it can overall increase activity. Please note that 1/3 of the donated money already came from the “long tail”, lot of little guys giving a few millions.

The propaganda of TEST bankruptcy will end just as fast as “N3 is destroyed by the sov-dropping director”. TEST can no longer bankrupt. Moons can be taken, members not. As long as there are members loging in, there will be ISK in the chest, therefore there will be SRP. As long as there is SRP, there will be PvP-er to fly them. As the funds increase, more will be available for “get your first battleship for free” or “hourly pay for structure grinders” or free slowcats.

The “Goon idea” has lost the war. Goonswarm may not as they shown fast adaptation skills. Maybe the next Mittani move will be evaluating corps based on ISK given to the war chest and everyone will be expected to recruit carebears. But the idea of “grr carebears, kill them all, PvP forever” is as dead as the master-pet system of BoB and -A-.

– Gevlon Goblin

PS: The donation board will also make the “you just made up your 0.5T” posts pointless. After all, it’s irrelevant how much I have. What matters is how do I use it. I think most of it will slowly but surely go to the TEST coffers. Also, my Ragnarok pilot will soon complete his skill plan, so I must get liquid for that too.

PS2, personal note: all services set up and logi pilot joined, stratops here I come again… too bad that most of them are US TZ which I can’t attend at weekdays. But there will surely be fleets in the EVE time 16-21 range.

His EVE journey show a very interesting “outside the box” approach to the game, PVE and the trade hubs, reason for which we invite you to pay a visit to his blog.

Why not give credit where credit is due and show that we care about logi, ratters, and miners (and leadership!) just as much as the Pilots, and FCs that defend us from the big bad scares on our doorsteps

I’ve always thought Glevon was an egotistical WoW fanboi moron, trying to play Eve and failing harder than nearly anyone in the history of the game. 99% of me still thinks that. (TEST WTF are you thinking?) However, this idea actually has merit. Let rich HS players donate to kill Goons – and they are willing is fantastic. Once Goons are ground to dust, close the donations. My abhorrence for Goons outweighs my disdain for Glevon it seems. Hypocritical? Maybe… but WoW fanboi actually did something useful for one. Mark the calendar.

All the raving against WoW players is really retarded. I’m not a WoW player. Tried it, got bored, quit. It wasn’t challenging enough. I had friends who played hardcore though and some of the raids required quite a bit of skill.

This isn’t a WoW plug. Like I said, I found it boring. But this refusal to intelligently analyze a person’s ideas just because they played WoW is more retarded than any 13 year old WoW fanboi.

In this case what Glevon did was pretty cool. Yesterday I read about TEST clearing their reimbursement queue through a large donation. I thought, “That’s cool, but what are they going to do next time.” Now I know. Encouraging people to go out and farm some cash is a good idea. God knows there’s plenty of people in EVE who know how to do it.

One way to boost donations, keep a tallie of the top 10 contributors and say once CFC are no longer invading and if TEST is still around, post those top 10 members names on your website or wherever. That would spur people to be competitive with their donations.
Maybe Test could offer favors to the top 3 donating players? IE removing a system of POCO’s, Destroying a corps high sec POS, ETC. Just keep the tallies updated daily atleast and make people WANT to donate. This would also force some people to “put their money where their mouth is” so I would expect a 100b or soo donation from the goblin ^_^ you know, since he is in TEST and he is sooooooo wealthy.

Well there is 80ish r64, which are making 5-8 bil a month, that alone is safely 400 bil alone, there is also another 80+ r34, then there is another 400 or so r8’s which can actually make decent isk when set up right for alchemy. I’m not acually going to toss out some random number of what all those moons will pull in, but needless to say it’s well over 160 bil as the r64’s alone pull in well over twice that much.

        1. NoirWolf

True but the difference between goo and donations is that donations are direct injections, goo is a product which needs to be shipped and sold. The act of selling itself has a tax based on value of the transaction, the jump freighter’s fuel also factors in and then there’s shrinkage due to possible jump freighter attacks by CFC or CFC-aligned forces. Compared to this a donation is money already in the bank so I dare say that while 160 bil might not seem like allot it will significantly boost TEST’s capacity to wage the war.

            Uhhh, no.
No alliance, not TEST, not CFC, NO ALLIANCE could keep up with a war of this size with any type of income. The war chest has to be filled well in advance and be ready for a pounding. Once an alliance is broke, it’s on its way out of the war. Unless TEST can get trillions of isk injected in a very short space of time, there’s simply no way they can progress.

            July 17, 2013 at 7:40 pm
        2. whats the net?

Are there any costs that need to be deducted?
          What is the net?
Are the ships generally insured to the corp to help with reimbursments?
If so it seems impossible that test would have problems. Even if half of the ships they lose are part of the reimbursment program, it shouldn’t be a problem.

As far as the cost of running a large POS on a R64 compared to what
they pull in post odyssey, it’s rather small. 5bil a month is the net,
of course this is assuming your shipping it to highsec.

SRP is not the only cost an alliance has to worry about, there is the cost of holding the sov. itself, and system upgrade stuff like JB’s, which atm there are tons of in delve, like a ridiculous about of them in delve alone. How much the cost of sov. is in fountain, and delve, I have no clue. How much is the cost of system upgrades like JB’s in fountain and delve, I have no clue. How much is the avg. cost of SRP a month during this war, I have no idea. But it’s probably more then 160 bil, or 400 bill or whatever they pull in on moons, but I could be wrong

            July 18, 2013 at 7:16 pm
        3. David

How are you figuring 5-8 bill a month on an R64?

The highest R64 at the moment is Neodymium at 28k each. 100 per hour, 24 hours per day for 30 days, is a sales value of 1.95 bill, even in magical no fuel/no transportation costs/no market costs land. Even adding in the most profitable double simple or complex reactions adds a max of another 1.5 bill a month (if they magically predict market patterns to always choose the most profitable one). So you’re sitting at 3.5 bill a month, or less than half of what you’re giving the r64s credit for. And realistically, I’d probably put them more in the 2-2.5 bill a moon profit range, since running those reactions would leave them woefully inadequately defended.

Also I assume he’s referring to alliance moons only, which means you aren’t counting every damn moon in the region. Especially since Goon holds a few at the moment.

I like to actually play the game when I get time to play however, so I live with having enough to plex my accounts and keep me in ships.

If he knew anything about the economy or even just basic math, he’d know that a war costing a minimum of 150b/week is not going to be propped up by a few hundred bil donations. basically he’s throwing his cash into a pit never to be seen again.

Test may have discovered the future of block level war fighting. Test with its army of cearbears and a legion of PvP pilots could fast become a war winning machine and force other Alliances to gobble up clearbears by the thousands just to compete financially if the donation method works in this war long term.

I’m no GG fan, but the “kill board” idea is clever.

The donating helps to secure the alliance financially, by motivating members to donate while at the same time rewarding players who donate with recognition. Getting members to donate is also likely to increase their loyalty, if you can get someone to donate a large amount of isk, it’s likely they will stick around to the bitter end.

Eve being eve this does open the possibility of fraud, which on this level really could hurt an alliance, i think people react differently to their isk being stolen compared to “easy earned” moon goo made isk.

This… This is glorious. This means that when we are smashing whole fleets of TEST ships to pieces, not only are we making TEST broke, but we are making their individual members broke, we are making highsec carebears broke, and we are making Gevlon, whos knows too little about EVE to even be considred a player, broke. Thank you. This is amazing.

    1. Where did the isk come from?

If the cfc coffers are huge its only because they previously fleeced their members. Its not like mittani was grinding level 4s and is now generously giving it back to cfc members.

Didn’t they do a whole carrier drive and offer to cover the cost or part of the cost for training and or flying carriers? And yet they still seem to have tons of isk left over? I also here they still do SRP as well as a super/dread program. Seems to me that the isk generated from not only moons but also taxes is going back to the player base that helped get it. Large sums of idk is also set aside for maintaining the infrastructure that goons and the CFC have become firmiliar with such as a advance POS/JB network, station usage, system upgrades and other programs that make the coalition run smoothly. Don’t know about you but it seems that the money is being spent with the members in mind while also planning for the future.

Right, cause it’s common knowledge that people playing WOW are subhumans and making a fair point about something that isn’t out of the ordinary in smaller alliances and that leaders of the bigger alliances actually discuss is idiotic.
    Arrogant indeed.

OH, looks like someone planned out their comments. I’m not sure you realize, but I believe the subject at hand, Mr. Curtis, was the troglodyte in your profile picture. I do see you have changed it to some random person other than yourself. Congratulations! Our self-esteem assassination was successful.
