A ping rang out from Lady Scarlet – Can someone tell Gorga to get his ass online, there is a matter of some importance. It was unusual to hear from her, a high level NC pilot. Something was up, something big. A few minutes we had our answer: Twitter spat out "BREAKING: S2N CITIZENS, NULLI LEGIO DISBANDED."

Half of Nulli Secunda’s alliances were suddenly closed, destroyed. Thousands of pilots were locked out of their home stations, unable to get to their assets. Operations for the majority of South East were locked, the regions were primed for invasion. With a single act, the entire N3 coalition was dealt a killing blow just as they were turning the tide for TEST in the colossal war for Fountain – EVE’s largest conflict ever.

But what followed the collapse was even more shocking…

Historical Context

Early in EVE’s universe capsuleers sought out corners of space to conquer and exploit for wealth. Great wars were fought over vast territories of null security space. At first corporations fought each other for control of regions, dragging allies into conflicts for them. CCP then created official alliances for this purpose, but those alliances brought other alliances into wars as coalitions. Allies have always been power.

Conflicts grew to unimaginable sizes and block wars were waged. Chief among adversaries were Band of Brothers and the smaller alliances that followed them against the underdogs Goonswarm and theirs.

During the second of two great wars the Band of Brother’s Director, Xttz, ended BOB by pulling the plug on their Sov holdings effectively evicting them from all their space holdings (2009). Goons were ready and swept over Delve and Fountain like a killing plague. Xttz became a Goon director and a famous traitor. (We’ll hear from him again.)

Months later Band of Brothers reformed as IT Alliance and swore revenge. They found their chance when the Goonswarm executor deliberately locked the ISK vaults and walked away. Without payment the stations revoked their sovereignty and the empire froze. IT quickly moved in, taking back their throne regions – Delve and Fountain.

Unable to recover, The Goons fled to the North under the protection of Tau Ceti Federation and the Northern Coalition. Tau Ceti gave territory to both Goons and a new alliance, TEST.

In the north the Goons grew strong and as did new ally in TEST. They formed the CFC power block. Together they had tens of thousands of pilots ready to swarm. Goons managed to thrive exploiting rich territory alongside the Northern Coalition, but were eager to challenge their mortal enemy, IT (BOB) again. Months after banishing the Goons, IT was locked in turmoil and decay while they fought against southern heavyweight AAA. The time was right for Goons to return.

Nulli Secunda

Nulli Secunda was small nullsec alliance with a few members, mostly pilots from Providence Region. They started holding Sov in Querious, under the protection of IT Alliance. IT Alliance was crumbling under pressure from CFC and a AAA led Southern Coalition, and offered no support to Nulli so in the waning days of the IT Empire, Nulli did a full reset.

When the dust settled and IT was no more, Nulli became of the Southern Coalition and moved to Period Basis as a buffer state to their new protectorate, AAA. After IT’s defeat to AAA and CFC, the Goons stayed in north while TEST took bordering region Fountain. Since the grudge war with IT was over there was no desire to fight AAA over Delve. TEST then broke off from the CFC and formed its own coalition with Pandemic Legion, the HBC.

The HBC lived in Fountain and constantly roamed south to skirmish in Delve. Nulli, much bigger now, always showed up to fight especially outnumbered and gained their respect as a worthy adversary. This was an era of “GudFites” that withstood attempted invasions and nullsec politics for months.

Ultimately the arrangement soured and HBC decided to move Nulli out. AAA stepped in on Nulli’s side, and the CFC stepped in for HBC. The stage was set for a great war over Delve, but it ever happened. Instead AAA decided to take the long view of the war and to deny the enemy victories. They shuttered in.

Nulli’s territories were sacrificed and AAA stood down waiting for a better war. Nulli left the south and floundered, blaming their once powerful protectorate AAA for sacrificing them. They turned to Faction Warfare to make ISK, but only achieved mixed results. The wounded alliance started to see less pilot activity. It was a dark time.

Black Legion pulled Nulli out of the shadows of Faction War and invited them to help attack CFC assets in Germinate alongside NC – the DOTbros coalition was born – 3 skilled pvp alliances forming a small coalition that would race and burn Goon territories up and down the North East.

DOTbros, were able to win impressive victories against the much larger CFC Coalition. The CFC stumbled but made slow work of Geminate. They welcomed or engineered the arrival of Solar Fleet to the conflict – on their side. The two powers put tremendous pressure on Dotbos, but could not break them.

The defeat of Dotbros came at their own hands; Black Legion and NC broke relations over an internal conflict (treatment of a female). Black legion stayed engaged against the CFC while simultaneously fighting its former allies. Black Legion would have nothing to do with from that point forward.

The Damage

The facts are this: at 16:27 EVE time on July 1st, someone took control of the executor corp for S2N Citizens, emptied the alliance wallet, and disbanded the alliance, causing 211 systems to drop sov. In addition, sov was dropped in 8 Nulli Legio systems and every corp was kicked from the alliance, leaving only the holding corp. In all, 219 systems lost sov and roughly 350 billion ISK was stolen. In addition, all renter assets are locked in the now sov-less stations, and unable to be extracted."

All rental space was locked and half their pilots were dislodged. Two of four Nulli alliances were closed and N3’s collective claims over conquered space forfeited – it was all up for grabs. All the rental money was robbed. 350 Billion, gone, into someone’s pocket. Once again an act of betrayal had devastated a super power.

When the ping rang out from Lady Scarlett for someone to get Gorga, the Exec for Nulli as well as the greater N3, he could not be reached. One of Nulli's leaders quickly informed coalition pilots on the situation to calm them:

Nicholai Sanse, LNAW CEO, disbanded OPSEC/S2NC. He was former lead alliance diplo, so yeah, he had characters with the roles to do this. LNAW has been booted from S2N until we can figure out the full extent of what the fuck just happened here… but in the meantime, if anybody has spare TCUs kicking about…please get them to your corp leadership ASAP. – Cadiz

The CEO of one of Nulli’s largest corps, and the head diplo of Nulli had undone the alliances and stolen the wallet. That was a fact.

LNAW Corp is best known for trying really hard to be e-infamous, resulting in tying up internal Nulli communications in forums and fleets. They are loved by some, hated by others and ignored by most. Obnoxious, loud and seeking infamy – was it enough reason to break an alliance and coalition?

While it is Nicholai Sanse's account [LNAW CEO], the IRL player denies knowledge. As he is the CEO, LNAW has been temporarily kicked to further limit damage. – Totolini

If what Totolini wrote was true there was a suspicion that the Corp CEO was not actually responsible. It was assumed that his account was compromised and used to do the damage.

Rumors immediately spread but there was one reality the Nulli leaders faced – Solar Fleet. N3 would have to immediately return to re-conquer 200+ systems and stations and then rebuild all the upgrades. This would take weeks, but could take months if Solar was awake and taking advantage of this event. It appeared, at the very least, N3 was out of the war in Fountain.

There was a clue:

(10:53:12 AM) xttz: its done
(10:53:18 AM) xttz: disbanded
(11:03:30 AM) xttz: he just finished corp management I and did the ceo vote

(11:04:49 AM) xttz: I talked him through stealing shares, ceo vote and booting corps
(11:04:54 AM) xttz: also he jacked 400b

Xttz was the same BOB member that betrayed and destroyed their Sov, but now he was a Goon Director. He reemerged as an aid in this 3rd catastrophic Sov drop, coaching what looked like a turned agent.

That evidence was enough to give credit for the operation to the Mittani, Goon leader and spymaster. This act of espionage would single-handedly removed N3 from the war, thus spelling defeat for TEST. In private, Mittani told his alliance this was a lucky break and they were monitoring the situation.

The Mittani's communication skills are legendary, and by keeping silent in public he only augmented his reputation as a spymaster and strategist. CFC pilots celebrated with smug posts on forums.

Finally, CFC leadership decided to delicately distance themselves in order to control backlash from Pandemic Legion and N3 – this rumor was motivating them to fight harder.

MACTEP, Solar Fleets leader, was also suspected of having the LNAW CEO’s account hacked to open N3 regions to for a new Solar Fleet conquest. Solar’s unprepared invasion was small – obviously not planned so that rumor faded fast.

What was left was the truth – and it would not be long before a member of LNAW would reach out for the infamy and credit; but he would also reveal a deep and disturbing secret inside of Nulli Secunda.

The Recovery

The last 2 times something at this scale happened it destroyed both empires. No alliance has survived loosing so much territory so fast, but there were some key differences from the past.

  1. The territory lost belonged renters of many alliances, not just one.
  2. The alliance closures didn’t effected the major alliance directly.
  3. The victim alliance had many capable allies ready to help.
  4. The attack was not timed with an external threat in position.
  5. The attack was hastily done and somewhat sloppy.

In the past, trusted people who had been in their positions for months turned on their alliance. This time an untrusted diplo was not taken out of High Council properly thoroughly, and managed to infiltrate his CEO’s account – probably a shared account. His bad planning and inexperience prevented further damage.

As terrible as the damage was, what followed was even more shocking – the recovery effort. Actions from the High Council were swift:

We did the usual; move all renters to a new alliance, and make sure the sov remains in our control. We also made sure he [LNAW CEO] has no other alts with roles in case he wants to do further damage. – Totolini

Pandemic Legion, fearing a SOLAR FLEET’s resurgence, chipped in to help retake the regions. Test also mobilized their supercapitals and contributed dozens of Territorial Claim Units in order get N3 back on the front lines faster. Instead of one coalition leaving the war for good, the entire group of coalitions left to repair the damage as swiftly as possible.

We have about 200-300 supers out grinding everything right now. We have had a lot of good response from allies that are all helping out right now so huge thanks to them all. We expect to have all sovereignty retaken in a 2-3 days . – Totolini

That many supercapitals ships would be uncontested by all existing powers combined. They amassed so much power that all territorial take overs were uncontested, not even slowed down in any way. They spread the supers out through the regions and quickly took everything back. EVE has never seen this anything like this before.

Nulli FC in retrospect:

This is something that could have easily been a deathblow to the war effort in the Fountain, and it is only through the absolutely heroic efforts of both our coalition and PL that we managed such a miraculously swift recovery. In under 6 hours, all of the stations had been flipped to friendly hands. Within a day, we had reclaimed most of the sov that had dropped. We’re still in the process of moving it all over to the new rental alliance, but the recovery we made was incredible. I’d like to thank all of N3, TEST, PL, and everyone else who helped grind and/or donated large quantities of TCUs to help get the space re-secured. The sheer scale of this feat was utterly unprecedented in EVE history, and everybody who pitched in should feel justifiably proud. – progodlegend

With the renting alliances moved to NC Associates, and the Nulli Legio PVPers moved into Nulli Secunda proper, and all the sov reclaimed for N3 and allies – the damage had been undone in a matter of hours. However, the system uprading iHubs would take weeks to restore, rendering a lot less income for N3. This would cause supply problems in the war. The CFC had a giant war chest and a break in N3's income would hobble its war machine. In war, ISK is an alliances capacitor – drain it and you immobilize your enemy.
Nulli caught a break here:

I also want to point out that while everyones roles were removed from this holding corp, my roles weren't, I was still a director. So while I see random comments about how the infrastructure has been lost and all that, it just so happens that it hasn't, I was able to save the majority of the ihubs and what not so v0v.

This has set us back only for a few days. Once we are done here we are back on the front, and this time more serious then ever.- Totolini

What was at first a master stroke of espionage became a story of the shear power of these alliances; how fast they could put an empire back together.

The CFC was not willing to let this opportunity go untested. They assembled massive operations and showered Fountain with Sovereignty Blockade Unites – the first step in taking over a system and ultimately a region.

But the CFC did not have enough time to do the kind of damage needed to set TEST and allies back far enough. TEST, N3, and PL, motived and mobilized upon their return picked up where they left off and unraveled all the work the CFC had done in hours.

While we were east taking care of the home front, the CFC used this as an opportunity to stop grinding in bombers and decided to bring their capital fleet out of mothballs. They reinforced twenty systems during this offensive sprint. Within 24 hours we were back on the front, and in another extremely impressive showing, 19 of the 20 systems were saved the next day. Excellent work, guys. – progodlegend

A catastrophic act by a rogue leader cripples an empire in the middle of a war, but that empire is helped back to its feet in an unprecedented small amount of time and returns to the war to tips the scales back to where they were before.

Nulli Secunda, rose from obscurity and developed a reputation to tenacious resolve and pvp ability. Proving it by surviving, multiple times, events that would kill any alliance and continuing to be a big player in the largest war in EVE’s history.

But this is not where the story ends.

There was something that motivated a high ranking official to betray his own alliance at the cost of his friends and comrades; something brewing inside of the core of Nulli that needed to be settled before it took it’s full toll on the alliance. This was only a symptom of a disease that would need to be dealt with.

Tomorrow: Nulli: An Alliance Decay or Resurgence, part 2

my friend , all these renters are coming from old russian renting alliances…

and it wouldn’t be the first time PL has his wallet drained by ccp due to botting money on it … and not even talkin about ex AAA corpos in it, AAA have been conviced serveral times for massive rmt.

i could also go on baki yuku , ex red alliance pet , actually in test, who is publicly claiming doing rmt…

and i could go on like this , for example with horus being in ncdot and test , ect ..

        nulli i dunno really.

but one thing sure , when you set up a 400 system renting empire, you give a shelter to all the rmters and botters in nullsec… would be very very suprprising no bots nor rmt in those rented systems

even if we can be suspicious on N3 alliances , just the fact that this rented empire exist is a massive boost to rmt.

His ability to promote himself has been proven numerous times. I’ll grant that.

But usually that is not because he steered anything. Its usually because he is very good at claiming credit for things that happen in his favor.

This nulli disband is a case in point. Many people in eve probably think he was key in that. Even though its false that will continue to add to his rep.

The same is true with a director in BOB deciding to back stab his alliance, and his claiming credit for ccp deciding to focus on spaceships. Those events developed independant of him. (in the latter case it happened despite him given his defense of incarna etc) Yet he was quick to claim he made it all happen. He knows ignorrant people will give him the credit.

As an EXE CEO, I can tell you that all of the CFC were literally shocked into a state of disbelief that N3 and PL were able to reclaim most of what was lost in a day. We in EXE can see the writing on the wall, there is no doubt in our minds that if N3, PL, and TEST decided to go on the offensive we would not be able to stop them under the current circumstances. Mainly because of not just their Super and Titan power, but their excellent ability to fight in the sub-capital arena and how well they can adjust and adapt to everything we can think of, The CFC just doesn’t have what it takes to combat what our enemy can bring to the battle.

There is even talk amongst some of the leaders in EXE to switch sides before we get fried. We have good friends in TEST, so this wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Imagine if we reset the rest of the CFC with their combat assets lock in our stations. Would be a dick move, but a possible move nevertheless. Just imagine the fire sales!

Will EXE choose to become Romania of WWII? should be interesteing, BTW if any of you could send some pvp fleets to provi it would be appreciated 20-30 man gangs sub cap. -7- FTW

Hi. N3 + TEST cant do anything outside of AU TZ, which may serve to stall an invasion for a few months you cant run any campaigns of aggression like this because the defender gets to set the timers for their strengths, in the CFC’s case this would be EU or US, where N3 and TEST meatshield has been getting repeatedly dunked for a month

Not factually correct unless you can prove it by linking every BR for every fight that has happened in the Fountain conflict.

Without those you are just making observations on an emotional, not factual level.

The disbanding of nulli renter alliances information here is all wrong. A high ranking member of league of non aligned worlds came back to the game after a long hyadus. They wouldn’t give him diplo rights back so he retaliated with banning ranking nulli people on the forums. Members of The FA black ops group the banshees started to coordinate with this defector and was working on granting him asylum if he did it. The plan was laid out but the defector acted on his own and went forward with the plan. Disbanding the alliance. He is still in control of the corp and will be moving out of null. In the end he did it for the lulz there was no strategic objective on his part

    Wow what a shit article.

The BoB director that killed BoB was Haargoth Agamar. Xttz is a goon director. I don’t think Haargoth plays anymore.

When BoB initially fell, Goons did not sweep over Fountain as it was the home of Pandemic Legion and Son’s of Tangra.

When IT alliance formed they first attacked Fountain and evicted Pandemic Legion and Son’s of Tangra, then moved on to Delve.

And AAA was the proctectorate of Nulli…as in Nulli controlled and protected AAA? Since Nulli bugged out of the south when AAA basically pissed off everyone with their amazing arrogance I think you don’t know what that word means.

    Jesus…that is one bad article….

These are all good points and If I could edit the article I would to reflect these details; especially the protectorate definition and Haargoth (that’s semi-important). But none of those incorrect details really matter b/c it only sets up the rest of the article…
———– the rest of just for the attitude ——–
However those errors don’t make this a bad article – I’m not going to sift through 10 years of shitposting and trolling to get details right that have little to do with the real story.

You could have drawn on multiple sources to make this article more accurate, you chose to write out of your ass. I mean everyone knows the name Haargoth, its like one of the most infamous names in Eve history, for this historical inaccuracy this whole article might as well be the purest bullshit, written by someone who knows fuck-all about Eve politics. Also, for further accuracy, NC and NCdot is not the same thing, you mention both entities but neglect to set them apart.

        What a jumbled mess.

If you know about EVE politics, then take time out of your life to write something interesting, double sourced, and it better be fun to read! Make your bones writing, not just bringing people down that try to get new players up to speed.

It seems like SOLAR is causing major butt hurt to N3.

They recently flexed their Supercap muscle against unsuspecting N3 forces, several carriers were popped.

In response to increasing usage of Supers by SOLAR, it seems that PL/N3 has repositioned sizable portion of their Superfleet in Cache.

This may cause a nightmare scenario for N3/PL if CFC were to deploy their 900 strong supercap & capital fleet against the reduced N3/PL capital fleet in Fountain. Even before the relocating some of their capital ships to Fountain, both sides had equal strength in capitals (but CFC pilots less experianced).

On the otherhand, if they deployed too little against SOLAR, they risk being overrun by MACTEP’s ~400 strong capital fleet

    July 13, 2013 at 6:05 am Reply
    1. DrkyDrky

Comparably, N3/PL has around 700 strong experienced capital force that has the balls to risk it.

Even if they have 10% tidi to rely on for moving their caps across the galaxy, the real risk may come from allowing CFC an opportunity to use their capitals more freely.

      1. lalala

i think the myth of the high skilled pilots is over after the super welp. but anyways, capitals is one thing, support fleet another. solar is able to decide if they fight or not, they have the choise to escalate fights. NC/N3/PL doesn’t. they have to react and move a shit ton of caps all the time from one side to the other. people get stucked because of RL and so on. forces get more and more splitted and the people more and more pissed. a blueball in fountain happens, but a blueball in drone regions is a pain in the ass.

Yes it is miswritten here –

BOB was brought down by it’s own director “Haargoth Agamar” as he turned over the sov keys to Goon’s Logistic Director Xttz. I fouled up that connection b/c I read something to that affect and didn’t recheck my history – blunder. Sorry. Most of this comes from memory and it’s hard to get everything fact checked years later.

‘Nulli left the south and floundered, blaming their once powerful protectorate AAA for sacrificing them.’

Blaming perhaps but it was quite funny to know the inside story. Nulli leadership stabbed AAA in the back multiple times after getting them involved in the war for their space. We couldn’t have done better ourselves..

Nulli didn’t want allies to come help them fight the only way it could win, a slow shitty grind. It wasn’t helped that their rank and file got all butt sore about RA getting space near them, the fact that Nulli leadership asked and agreed for this to happen for ‘gudfites’ was quickly buried. Nulli leadership were also happy to take reimbursement funds from their allies coming to help them fight that they then stabbed in the back, was quite a funny.

With hind sight it would have been allot more interesting fight if we didn’t go for spy divide and conquer but we had a timescale to achieve and lets face it the tears were delicious.
