Perhaps the most uninformative vid I've ever seen…

And are we still expected to believe these guys are noobies? Not just new toons?

You must be new to this game then. My first PVP fleet was 1 week into the game tackiling a dude called "swaffers" dreadnaught in syndicate back when dreadnaughts where rarer than titans are now. There was about 100 of us, most under a month old.

It was timing, it happened right after the battle of askasai and /r/eve was the featured subreddit. I saw them making it, it definitely started organically and now a lot of more experienced players are joining just since its something very unique.

No I'm not surprised, we clocked a few hundred new members in a few days of new members in goonfleet a few years back and thats a website only a fraction of the size of reddit. You'd be surprised how effective out-of-game newbie recruiting can be.

Dude you keep saying that but you obviously don't have a clue. I remember when the first post went up on reddit. It was just Matias talking about getting a corp of noobs together to learn how to better survive in eve and so on. There was a ton of interest at that point because of that huge battle in asakai, or whatever system it's called, and a huge amount of people that didn't play eve read about the battle and got trial accounts and a day or so afterwords matias' post went up and that was an outlet for a lot of clueless noobs to connect with.

    Wow you're all so mad.

I've been playing EVE for a month and I decided I'd join these guys.
    Why?

Because just about every other corporation is full of stuck up tools that get proportionally more stuck relative to the size of their wallet and the amount of 0's their skill points have.

Our fleet organization goes something like this
"Hey, anyone wanna go pew pew some stuff?"
    "YOLO"
Half way to our destination – "Oh, did anyone bring salvagers or warp jammers?"

With 1000 plus members we're bound to have some alts but the majority of other people are like me… New players that were attracted to a corporation where they be new players and still have fun without writing a 10 page application and getting yelled at by 4 different guys in the chain of command.

Kudos to you and welcome to EVE!!! From what I have gathered about this corp, it has a very experienced FC, some very fun involvement with the roams and WT's, and many strong ties to reddit and TEST (or should I just say reddit altogether?).

All I would like to say is: You go, capsuleer!! This is a great method of getting into some action without having to learn the small corp concept of "think before you act" and I am all for it. I believe this will definitely retain new players into Eve space and make a huge change in the shape of the game to come.

Well, the 10 page application was an exaggeration. I did spend a good 2 hours on my EVE-U application which was ridiculous. I've written essays in less time.

The whole chain of command thing I gathered from reading the policies of a few of the big corps.

It's crazy, I like, totally used my brain, or something. I must be apart of the minority in EVE judging by most of the posts here.

First off i think new alliances like this is good.
players need to learn the rops the hard way.

I still remember my Ceo of my corp telling me when i moved out to null.
-Stick to frigates fly them for a year lose them and have fun. once that year is past you will not do stupid things and you will not lose something expensive (not that i care but you might care).

the first roam i went on was in a Cruiser and surely enough i was falling behind and then one suddley he told us to get our ass to a specific system asap since there was a bigger brawl there.. i lagged behind and got pea shot by a gatecamp. did i learn anything Yes did i lose something expensive .. not realy 50m was peanuts for me back then and still is. still if it had been a 5m rifter it would have been better for me.

I am one of the few saying a fleet of rifter can and will deal massive pain to enemy especialy if they enter fight mid fight. for example T3 ships getting webbed/ Scramed will die very fast. and you can buy 100 rifters (fitted) for the cost of 1 T3 ship (aprox)

I stopped playing in 2007, reactivated to join in the fun. (Still sub-10M SP) FUN was something that I found missing from EVE back in the day. ("If I wanted to run a corporation, I'd bloody well run one in real life.") Blobbing or not, roaming through lowsec/nullsec with a gang in frigates, with the full expectation of dying a glorious death and taking the pod express back is hilarious fun. And good fleet ops practice. The problem I see with everyone who is suspicious of the "legitimacy" of BNI, or motives of BNI is that they really just don't get it. None of that BS matters at all; you still seem to have non-zero fucks to give. We have none! It's just a damn game, and we're running out of places to hide the butthurt str8-player tear buckets. 7o

Can I make a suggestion to Brave Newbies: Keep out of the 0.0 coalition thing for the time being. I know reddit=dreddit etc etc, but speaking as a goon the most exciting time in our life was back when we where in syndicate and aligned with frigging NOBODY. Currently theres a bittervet corp called "bombers bar" that specializes in stealth bombers. They have no alegiences and just go about bombing *everyone*. As a result they are having a tonne of fun and are comletely sidestepping the mindnumbing politics and sov/logistics crap. Whilst your ships are still cheap and costs low, just have fun attacking anything that moves, and when your big enough to meaningfully contribute to 0.0 warfare THEN think about joining test or whatever. But for now, just enjoy murdering the world with frig blobs, because seriously, its a hell of a lot of fun doing that.

    1. Reddit = Dreddit? Where did you get your information?

Reddit has no single group, Dreddit, FWeddit, and now Brave Newbies(Innitially rejects, because they were not active enough on Reddit) are just major groups that hail from us. There are also countless of smaller bands.

Don't worry, Reddit is only medium for information. I just happened to create the corp recruiting through it. We are an independent entity bent on having fun and fucking shit up, no fucks given.

0.0 may lie in the future but if we enter, we will be our own faction hell-bent on changing the political landscape of eve. For now, we sharpen our claws in endless lowsec roams, and fight off an endless stream of wardecs from every highsec carebear corp in EVE looking to pad their kill stats.

In short, we're having a blast and learning the game.

Im curious how a 39 day old toon has the corp management skills to run a 1360 member corporation.

If we do some maths here..
Corp management 5 (50 members) takes 6 days and 30 odd minutes to train
Megacorp management 5 (+250 members, 300 total) takes 18days 1 hours and 50 odd minutes
Empire control 5 (+1000 members, 1300 total) takes 30 days 3 hours and 10 odd minutes

Now lets take into account we completely exclude the story that this was a 'random influx of members into a random corp' and assume that he trained to maximise his corp skills from the moment he first logged onto EVE, to train for a 1300 member corp takes 54 days, 5 hours and 30 odd minutes.

+5 implants? still the training queue only reduces to 43 days, 4 hours, 43 odd minutes..

As i write this, the corp stands at almost 1360 members, meaning he has also trained at least the first level of Sovereignty

Now take into account this guy has pulled off the impossible (Time Travel), and also managed to buy himself almost 510mil ISK worth of skills without having anything but corp management skills..

From what I've heard the CEO handed the corp over to a player with much higher corp management skills when recruitment took off, that player expanded the corp member limit then handed it back.

      February 18, 2013 at 6:53 am Reply
      1. Yes, this is exactly what happened. He even said it on the interview on the DoW podcast. he clearly said he thought 'well, maybe this guy might jack the corp and keep it but if that happens no big deal, the corp wasn't very large to begin with' (at the time it was something real small, 30 ppl? i forget) so it would be easy to start over but the guy who helped him out was genuine and he paid to max the corp out to 6000+ member limit or w/e the member limit was and then handed it back over. Just goes to show you, sometimes you trust someone in a situation where they could screw you over and you come out pleasantly surprised.
