Pandemic Legion propaganda chief and CSM7 delegate brings us his (often controversial) regional updates. Buckle your seatbelt Dorothy, ’cause the Land of Drones is going bye-bye.

The first week of January was doubtlessly the most action that the Drone Regions had seen in quite some time.   The newly named Drone Region Coalition (ED, PNG, SCDOT, BCA, et al) had their hands full with PL and simply could not keep up with the frenetic pace.  The strain of fighting daily for two weeks hit DRC High Command the hardest as they began to be consumed with in-fighting.  Through the backbiting and passive-aggressive power grabs, the DRC High Command were able to agree on one thing: avoid PL and hope they get bored and go away.   A common maneuver which nearly always backfires horribly.

During the frenzied fighting period, DRC lost a single system to PL.  Under this new policy, a feisty PL attempted to provoke a reaction and in the process mugged 15 R32s, 7 pivotal stations, and an active CSAA.  The self-imposed isolation was costly, for sure. Things were looking grim for the DRC; leadership positions were in a constant state of flux, alliances and corporations decided to part ways, and PL were still running amok.  SOLAR were not faring much better, either, after N3 made a concerted effort to push them deeper and deeper into the drone regions.  Every new staging system SOLAR moved to, N3 reinforced and killed it in one fluid motion forcing both SOLAR and DRC into constantly changing HQs.   SOLAR adapted much better than the DRC, who were always seemingly behind the 8-ball.  The night is darkest just before the dawn, as they say, and dawn appeared to break when FA and Razor (FAZOR) announced that they would move to Great Wildlands to support both SOLAR and DRC in the fight against N3 and PL.

Set Fazors to Ineffective!

Everything was looking up for DRC: new leadership, handpicked by Mactep, new allies to bolster their cause, all following a near two-week respite from fights.  As FAZOR moved into E02, SOLAR and DRC waited with bells on for their new allies.  While E02 swelled with FAZOR carriers, N3 were eager to take on the rejuvenated SOLAR & Co counter-punch.  N3 were left at the proverbial alter, though, as the Great Counter never materialized.  This tepid response from FAZOR led a bemused N3 to resume operations as normal; SBUs went up, sovereignty fell, and DRC’s cautious optimism came crashing down.   DRC found itself hemorrhaging members once again with the announcement that PNG would be leaving the coalition.

In spite of the hardships and FAZOR’s impotence, DRC lifted its ban on engaging PL.   PL POSes were attacked, friendly systems were saved, and fights were had.  Although the fights had…limited success, they served as a catalyst to pump life back into the once-proud coalition.  In addition to this, DRC flew alongside SOLAR to bolster the ever-weakening relationship between the two entities.

Whispers From The Wildlands

The FAZOR deployment to the Wildlands was a very curious one from the onset.  Moving to help an entity that is being invaded, yet swearing off all forms of sov warfare.  Forming up for fights (over sov timers), yet basing from a location such that they cannot assist SOLAR without flying directly through either N3 or PL HQs.  This gimping, intentional or otherwise, has had a predictable result; FAZOR’s mere presence has made PL – who had never bothered to form for SOLAR timers – take note and form alongside.  Due to the positioning, FAZOR were forced to either fight PL alone, or disband.  Shockingly, even with a massive numerical edge, FAZOR continually decided to ~blueball~ PL before they ever bothered to fight.  FAZOR’s first weekend saw a 220 man Zealot fleet cower in fear of a 100 man PL fleet because, as their FC stated, “PL probably have blapdreads on standby”.  FAZOR’s second big stratop saw 180 Zealots stand down from 80 PL “because they have too many and we cannot split them up”, although PL were already 3 regions away from any hope of N3 support.   Without FAZOR support, SOLAR were forced to stand down their 250-man alpha fleet and lose two more systems.  Again.

The only signs of life out of the Wildlands come in the form of N3 drops on FAZOR’s home system, awkward 90-man roaming gangs to Curse, and police-ops around the surrounding regions.  FAZOR are clearly having deployment growing pains as they are large enough to merit notice, yet too large to effectively roam.  Still there is no sense of urgency from FAZOR and they continue to take it slow and plod along at a gentle place, this is after all their first time away from the CFC security blanket.  FAZOR’s odd positioning does have one benefit: they are just too far to hear SOLAR’s sighs of exasperation.

It's pretty ironic to see someone lambasting someone else for their stupidity when your post itself is absolutely replete with its own incredible stupidity! Seriously, dude, go to eve-kill.net and check out the Top 20 killing alliances. You'll see – hopefully to your utter shock and amazement (that is, IF, you can read and know what "numbers" represent…that's a BIG IF considering the intellect you've displayed above…) – that FA and RZR both have more kills than the "l33t pvp" alliances like PL, NC. or Nulli. To say that they are non-PVPing RMT carebears is simply the purest expression of full retardedness on your part, hint, your full retard is showing, might want to slow it down a bit before you get your foot in your mouth again….

It's not entirely surprising that RZR has more kills than PL, NC. or Nulli given they are a 4,000 man alliance (while the other three are (1700, 1700, 2200), but the fact that FA has even more than RZR and is only a bit larger than Nulli (around 2900 pilots IIRC) is pretty surprising. On a kill-per-pilot basis, using just my head for rough estimates, FA falls only behind NC. and PL, but is ahead of Nulli, while RZR trails Nulli for last.

This certainly doesn't mean FA are better skilled pvpers than Nulli – especially, not based on the recent fleet fights they've had where Nulli has thoroughly trounced them with their Gila fleets – but it does mean you can't just ignorantly dismiss them as non-PVPing RMTing carebears…

TL;DR Don't be such an almighty chode. Look up your shit before you talk out of your ass. FA and RZR do not just RMT or carebear, they PVP. Simple facts yo.

Full Disclosure: I am not, nor have ever been in or affiliated with FA or RZR for all those propagandists out there. Just tired of all the stupid, dumbass propaganda spewed from all these dirty arseholes all over nullsec.

It's also surprising to see Fidelas Constans and TNT up there, hell even Tribal's in the top 20. They may be horrible pvp scrubs, but hell, at least they're pewing, killing shit and dying in a fire, that IS PVP, they may not exactly be "l33t" yet, but we all got to start somewhere right?

Honestly, if there is only one alliance in EVE that would never failcascade, I'd say it's SOLAR FLEET. It doesn't seem to matter what you do to them, or what happens to them, they have some pretty intense, fanatical intra-group loyalty and devotion.

People seem to forget that SOLAR FLEET members have been in these types of hopeless situations before: many of them are survivors from Red Alliance circa 2006 when they were extirpated and then came back to win the war after being pushed to a single system (IIRC); 2011/2012 in the war vs. Legion of Death, again, SOLAR FLEET was LOSING that war against NC., PL, Legion of Death & Co, they were pushed all the way into Cache, their home systems, but they still held tough, a then 1400-man alliance against those odds and they didn't lose a single major corp to another alliance through defection. And that's continued into this conflict, not a single corp lost yet. Disagree with their politics all you want, but I think that's fucking impressive!

Hell, even SOLAR Citizens is showing a surprising amount of loyalty this far into the conflict. In spite of the war increasingly looking as a lost cause for SOLAR, SOLAR Citizens has only dropped something like 600 duders in 2 months (from 6500 to 5900); that's after losing an entire region (Insmother) and about 1/3 of Cache so far. AFAIR, Shadow of xXDeathXx lost members far faster in 2011/2012 when it was obvious Legion of Death could not even come close to SOLAR FLEET in PVP. They were bleeding alliances like a sieve.

These guys are built to last. I don't really know what motivates such fanatical loyalty; the conspiracy theorists will undoubtedly create some RMT theory, but I honestly don't know, maybe it's MACTEP? Or maybe their alliance culture is just fucking awesome? Who knows, mysterious Russians they are, we need SPAIS, MORE SPAIS!!!!

TL;DR SOLAR FLEET will be around forever. Master MACTEP ensures each young SOLAR FLEET grunt takes their daily dose of Chernobyl radiation so these Ruskies are as tough as cockroaches and unlikely to failcascade anytime soon.

P.S. Any news on when RED's contract for PL attacking SOLAR runs out?

So you say that it's amazing that corps in Solar didn't defect. And why is that? Because they're Russian-speaking, that's why.

CONFIRMIGN THAT RUSKIE CORPS DO NOT DEFECT BECAUSE NO OTHER RUSKIE ALLIANCES EXISED THEN AND NOW….hurrr durrrr duuuur. Seriously, did you even bother to think before you wrote something this asinine? You've got some epically serious problems in your logic here:

        1. Assuming that Russian or other non-english entities cannot join english alliances/alliances with different linguistic compositions than theirs. Frankly, we don't know the extent to which SOLAR corps know english, but there is a plethora of historical and contemporary examples of non-english corps joining primarily english alliances (most recent being German Evoke corps joining Nulli). Ultimately, this depends largely on how well SOLAR speak english and we don't know that. Alternatively, you could also join/create "WING"-style alliances like RED.Legion used to be which housed corps that spoke a different language from your main alliance (in this case, it housed english-speaking corps affiliated with RED Alliance). Admittedly though, this is not very common.

        2. Assuming that no alternative Russian alliances existed then or now for disgruntled corps to join. I don't know what the situation was with Russian alliances in 2006, but at least in 2011/2012, there were a lot of other Russian alliances they could have joined. Off the top of my head, there was: Legion of Death, Flamebridge, AAA, Darkside, RED. Overlord, Red Alliance, Gypsy Band. Now, we also have a lot of alternative Russian alliances they could join if they really did want to leave SOLAR: Red Alliance, Legion of Death, Darkside, Darkspawn, Flamebridge, Darkness of Despair (man, Russians are really depressing people yo!)

        February 9, 2013 at 11:27 pm Reply
      3. Highsec Perspective

        3. Assuming that they need an alliance to join at all! They can always just fragment into multiple smaller alliances with grievances against one another (aka "failcascade"), they don't need to join other alliances (Russian or non-Russian). Or, they could leave the alliance-scene altogether and do "re-grouping" or "re-focusing" in losec, or faction warfare or w/e.

TL;DR: So, as you can see, the choices for defection/leaving SOLAR were and are many, yet few choose to do so. It doesn't seem like it's a lack of choice, there must be something else that keeps them together. Hurr durr hurr, think before you talk ;).

P.S. Sorry for the triple post, it wouldn't let me post in a single post. :S

Red Alliance is (or was) also one of these hardcore alliances. Before their fall to the united Southern Coalition early 2012, they can be called a giant, big boulder-like dickhead.

Red Alliance is really only a "hardcore survivor" in name rather than in essence. You can see from their corp history that RA has basically been a revolving door for Russian corps, with many leaving them to join other groups, both Russian and non-Russian. You'll see quite a few corps that joined Protocol 13, Darkside, Gorgon Empire, Goons, Legion of Death, SOLAR and many others. Hell, one of their most iconic groups, R.U.S.H. defected to SOLAR last year IIRC.

This is all in stark contrast to SOLAR who have had extremely few corps leave them (IIRC, only three of any consequence since 2008!). Hence why you'll see SOLAR still has 6 corps with continuous membership from about when they started in 2008 vs. RA who only have four corps with continuous membership, only starting in 2009; after those four, it's all basically new 2012 corps that joined.

But it's kind of nice to see old names keep on living.

Honestly, if fazor wants to spend money, shipping ships down, only to ship them back up when they realized they bit off more they can chew without using them it's their own prerogative.

If their leadership bans their FCs from undocking fleets against us, regardless of their reasoning, they lack FC experience, cohesively fit ships, or they're straight up outnumbered. It doesn't change the fact that the sov grind against solar was unaffected, and their deployment was laughable.

PL has been very good in taking the opportunities where they see one, and keeping the crucial players blue. Good strategies with choosing enemies (as well as the tech cartel) have made them the powerhouse they are. All respect to PL.

Nulli's road has been rough and IMO they've survived it admirably. They've lost space, and been declared dead, but they never refused to die but came back stronger.

But don't think you should measure all alliances by the same yardstick. Each have their own aims and motivations, and the player base is different for each.

hmmm what did Fazor expect? Ofcourse they will be hit with as much as n3 can form…because they can. If they won't fight that then why come down in the first place. Has it ever been any different in eve? Fazor has the chance to whelp some fleets and become better at pvp because it's not in their own backyard, yet still they seem risk averse. A shame because there really isn't any risk for them besides losing alot of ships. I'm sure all these years of carebearing & tech has given them fat wallets anyways.

Besides I don't think there's anyone in n3 that doesnt want a piece of the goon pie or it's pets.

Let me start by posting what is one of my proudest moments in EVE. http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.ph

I've played this game since launch night many many years ago. No, not on this toon for those who will check the date on it. The killmail above is one of my proudest because I got it during a fleet battle. You remember those days right veterans? In this case jumping a HIC into a waiting fleet, burning back to gate and bubbling as your friends begin jumping in and man it's fucking ON! Proud of this km not because of the who but because of the what. This battle went on for a few minutes actually. Yes I said MINUTES with PL present. They actually warped in and landed to assist allies who had no doubt paid them to be there. They arrived in subcaps and NOT in overwhelming numbers. There to assist not to simply blob and crush. Of course right after I got this kill 2 titans landed on field and my fleet was no more. Ah the days of AoE titans.

Stay with me just a few more moments folks please. If you can read thru the bullshit propaganda story above you can suffer through this. Ethereal Dawn returned to Etherium Reach many months ago now. We have known only combat since returning. Months of constant war removing alliance such as Dark Phoenix Rising, Tribal Dragons, Apocalyptic Legion, BoB (Tinfoil) and SONE among others. We fought for and WON our space. And during this time visits from several CFC alliances who took space only to eventually lose it, and NC. supporting SONE with supers and anything else they could drop on ED and PNG as we fought back several attempted invasions.

*BULLSHIT ALERT!* NC. claims ED and friends stabbed them in the back and were helping CFC when NC. were getting their asses kicked by the CFC. Funny, but a month or so earlier NC. didn't have a problem dropping on ED and PNG as they tried to defend themselves from SONE. This isn't the first time NC. plays bully one minute then claims poor victim the next. And it won't be the last.

The most recent invasion of Etherium Reach began months ago. It started with alliances including Red Alliance, Gorgon, Nulli, Darkspawn, Why So Serious, RANE, Unthinkables, Wicked Nation and others. When these combined alliances couldn't get the job done and actually started getting their asses beaten they started batphoning TEST and PL. Soon, NC. also joined in on their side after they left their home space. Unable to defend themselves against a large opponent NC. decided to pile onto a much smaller one. PL was also then hired on by RA and joined officially. Following along with the list yet? There's more to the story folks but suffice if to say Ethereal Dawn and the alliances in the dronelands have HARDLY gone Out Like A Lamb. PL has been fighting in the Dronelands for over 2 months. NC. for even longer. There's a reason so many joined Ethereal Dawn when she returned to the Reach. The same reason will see her return once again. PL will move on to another valiant fight like maybe Providence. They will continue to whine about how the CFC blobs people yet do the same damn thing just in shinier ships. It's been a long time since PL deserved anywhere near the respect they once held in the EVE community back when I got that km i listed at the beginning of this freaking book. Back when they truly DID believe in "good fights".

Blah blah am I mad bro? Who gives a shit? Ha Ha cya guys you're dead fuck off…. insert any other smartass comment below. It's a game. I'll play on. Just wanted to set the bullshit a bit back more towards the truth. You don't need to be a part of the big blue donut. This game can still be fun folks. Play on.

Reminds me of our glorious battles in -A- before PL turned into supercap dropping nonsense.
By the way, there are not many alliances that restrict the use of supercaps to sov. grind only, we're one of them. -A- always goes for honest battles and our numbers are lower than that of the enemy most of the time, yet we emerge victorious. Oh, and we're not dead yet, if you wonder. In fact, in the past we only gathered big supercapital numbers for sole purpose of outblobbing PL if they decide to drop their 100+ titans – like in that last C-J takeover by our coalition, when Shadoo wet his pants and didn't make the call to drop supers (even though they were all ready for it) and then he whined on our TS for about an hour like a beaten whore.

I just wanted to epically post this here, a sov fight last night between SOLAR vs. N3 at O-9G5Y in Insmother:
      BR doctor: http://dog-net.org/brdoc/?brid=16519
      Original BR: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=16

Summary: SOLAR FLEET fighting like the fearless fucking space vikings that they are, about 2 v 1 (270 vs. 470) odds against the best large scale pvpers in the entire game (NC. and PL) and they still come away with a slight edge in efficiency (it's really basically even).

Also, who was the chode that scoffed earlier in the FA/RZR thread about SOLAR putting together 250 d00ders? Cuzz…guess how many SOLAR peeps I see here….240.

Finally, where in the fuck is Flamebridge? They have 2,000 Ruskie d00ders don't they, if they could put up the participation rate of SOLAR (which is impressive, they are only 2,000 dudes after all), this conflict might turn around, or at least stabilize. Also of note is RZRs and Gorgons minor presence. Last thing that sticks out is where the rest of SOLARCO is? N3 brought just about everyone, their grandmother, and their grandmother's dog to this fight, could SOLAR at least get a token fleet from ED, ROGUE, BCA or STR8NGE BREW (yes, I haven't forgotten about you!)??!

      Scalding pass Imp-L lost
      Insmother Solar lost
      Cache being lost by Solar
Etherium Reach being lost by ED
      etc etc etc.
and YES its out like a lamb because since this war started Solar and their useless collection of pet alliances have been doing nothing but carebearing and blue balling timers.

This is a pretty obscenely stupid post, mostly because it is biased to the point of full retardation.

To be fair, SOLARCO should feel no shame in losing space to N3+PL, if N3+PL were attacking HBC or CFC, they would also steamroll the fuck out of them IMO; N3 might have what, 50%, maybe even 2/3rds of the supercaps in game (???), they've got skill pvpers, and can field them in decent numbers. The main thing, IMO, that prevents N3 from attacking HBC or CFC right now might be the suspicion that attacking one might incite a counter-attack from the other, in which case HBC + CFC would probably beat N3+PL (not to mention the ambiguity of where PL would side in on such a conflict).

Getting back to your post though, beating on SOLARCO is nothing to be proud of. Let's face it, this was never really a challenge for N3, this is a "classic" heavyweight (N3) vs. featherweight (SOLARCO) fight, and the result is not surprising (except in that I would expect it to be even more one-sided than it has been thus far, N3 progress is really slow, they even admitted that in their recent meeting) This is not a fight where N3 is fighting against all the odds as the underdog and unexpectedly comes out on top because they're just awesome, SOLARCO is the underdog here. N3 is favoured because they have just about every significant advantage, let's review a tale of the tape here:

SOLARCO has about only one solid PVP alliance, SOLAR FLEET+WING, the other five or six main alliances are mostly indy/PVE-focused alliances with a lot of newer players, that are relatively new to nullsec, have small wallets, still developing logistics etc. You're looking at about 3,500 PVPers and somewhere in the range of 7,000 "carebears" fighting against 6,000-7,000 of the best large-scale PVPers in the game (PL, NC., Nulli, Huns etc.) + 5,000-7,000 assorted carebear-ish alliances. These are wealthy alliances, with LOTS of nullsec experience/history, who are organized, have extremely deep wallets, skilled/experienced pilots and a metric pixel-ass-ton of supercaps So, let's stop pretending that beating SOLARCO is some sort of unexpected, challenging, epic accomplishment you can be proud of.

Etherium Reach is nowhere near "being lost by ED," N3 progress there is glacial in speed. Cache is pretty contested, about 50-50 right now, but will probably fall in time. Insmother is basically lost, N3 are still struggling to kick SOLAR out of some areas (see O-9G5Y fight). SOLAR are not blue-balling lambs, they're fucking fearless space vikings yo, check out O-9G5Y fight, 2 to 1 odds, and they still break even, 50-50 on efficiency and keep the system theirs. Unfortunately, that can't really be said for most of their coalition-mates, although to be fair, you can't really expect a bunch of newer players from new alliances to suddenly have the skill, money, and experience to take on PL, NC., and Nulli a couple months/a year after getting into nullsec. So castigating them for "blue balling" and avoiding a direct confrontation with the enemy on the enemy's terms/advantage is as stupid as complaining why your soldiers don't just run dumb-assedly into that MG nest right there across that flat, open field with no smoke or cover yo. Seriously d00d, that's just fucked.

TL;DR I'm tired of fucking repeating myself, arguing against the same dumb-ass points that keep being brought up. SOLARCO are losing, but SOLAR is fighting the good fight like space vikings yo, yet, they and their coalition mates are struggling fighting heavily disadvantaged and outmatched (especially coalition mates). N3 is winning, this is not an unexpected, challenging, epic accomplishment, but is good for their coailition nonetheless.
