Yes, the big elephant in the room today is the biggest fight EVE Online has had in years which we covered live for straight 5 hours last night. I hope you all had it and let’s hope this returns as an often seen feature of nullsec other than the rarity that it is right now.

Where should I start? We had theย opportunityย to talk to the instigators of this massive brawl, Drunk ‘n’ Disorderly’s / Lost Obsession’s Wey’oun gave us the following exclusive insight.

Friday evening we RF’d a Liandri (Cal-Mil) Small Tower as retaliation for their CEO congratulating DBRB for killing our dreads in venal (when we suicide dropped the CFC Station camp). It came out of RF at 0130ish. TBH we totally forgot about the timer and only ended up forming due to one of our spy’s in I-Red telling us that they were coming to Blackrise to kill 20 DnD caps.

So we formed on titan in Navpocs and guardians, and initially only bridged in DnD guys to try cause an escallation of some kind. Even the few DnD alone smashed the fuck out of the caldari and ired joint fleet killing maybe 30 for no losses. We then heard a rumour of a DBRB op stalking DnD from one of our other sources.

[ 2013.01.27 00:58:51 ] Tekitha > wey
[ 2013.01.27 00:59:00 ] Tekitha > can u get any intel from cfc / hbc for this?
[ 2013.01.27 00:59:02 ] Tekitha > they formed?
[ 2013.01.27 00:59:39 ] Wey’oun > im already asking but tbh my spidersenses are practically orgasming right now let alone tingling…
[ 2013.01.27 00:59:44 ] Wey’oun > this is going to end soooo bad
[ 2013.01.27 00:59:45 ] Wey’oun > lol
[ 2013.01.27 01:00:01 ] Tekitha > indeed
[ 2013.01.27 01:00:03 ] Tekitha > thinking the same

We then accidentallied across dasboot group in umi-kk, realised what was about to happen an recognised this as the chance to kick off the mother of all supercap fights, more importantly, a supercap fight away from VFK. After a quick convo with PL, the trap was set. We ninja swiched alts into hics on the titan as the first cyno went up and in came the carriers… and suddenly Leviathan!. our hics bridged and pointed, and i started screaming to PL to get to the midpoint. As the PL cyno went up, there were already multiple cfc supers pouring onto grid and for the first ~10 mins~ PL were massively outnumbered. DnD/FATE went on blapping any hostile hics and firewalling fighterbombers which allowed the first PL supers to be primaried to jump out.

We then got bored and swiched everyone out into hics and after a 45 min warp across 10AU had 15+ hics on field pointing everything that was hostile. At the same time probing for the many DC’d supers/titans. tackling a few in SS’s like the avatar (BL Tackle). Unfortunately many of those titans / supers got away as cfc support fleets realised the supers on main fight grid were already fucked and worked instead on clearing tackle off DC’d supers which to be fair they did very well.

Awesome fight to be part of, and we hope it provides the much needed spark to kick off the war :)

To DBRB: Round 3?

Is it superfluous to mention how everyone and their mothers rallied up to get a piece of the Deklein Coalition? Sala Cameron made the following battle report which he gave us for cross posting.

So I just made some tea, sat down on my chair, started up some SNSD and was about to go to bed. Suddenly a convo pops up from a Drunk ‘n’ Disorderly FC. I
accept it, expecting a bunch of carriers or a super tackled somewhere soon. He told me that CFC is trying to bait him in Asakai, a lowsec system in Black Rise.
Furthermore, he said that they were about to start a support fight and that he is expecting a bunch of CFC carriers plus supers on login screen.

A fleet was set up, midpoint sorted. Waiting for more intel from the DnD FC, I decided to not ping for anything yet. Suddenly a “TITAN FAILJUMPED” (meaning that
he jumped instead of bridged) popped up in the convo. Pings went out for slowcats and supercarriers, not telling any other entity about it yet.
We went to the midpoint quickly, DnD organized us an incyno. I jumped my cynocarrier in to check what’s going on and what ships are actually on the field. I saw
~20 carriers spread out a bit and a Leviathan, recognizing immediatly that it’s Dabigredboat’s titan. Hedliner and Calistro were with me on channel command
already and we decided to go in, well knowing that CFC was logging supers in.

Apparently, tackle was already lost on the Leviathan. It jumped out as soon as the PL slowcats/supers materialized. Carrier primaries were called, at the same
time a lot of CFC supers and titans started to jump in (more than expected to be honest). The first Carriers went down, we started to primary a Hel
( and it went down very quickly. CFC were primarying a Nyx that managed to warp out in low armor. However,
their second primary didn’t have that much luck and died ( Both sides were very low on hics, thus we had
primaries warping off on both sides. At that time, the HBC, NC. and Nulli Secunda were called, even Black Legion wanted to come. Probably intended to say
“Thanks” for the K3J hellcamp? Oh and titan kills!

Since our supers always managed to warp off before they die, we decided to go for dreads since they are the main damage source in heavy TiDied lowsec systems.

CFC did a fundamental mistake with jumping titans into lowsec, as they are very vulnerable and do less damage than a Dread or Supercarrier (I know that feel bro). Dreads were going down, BL. Dread fleet (50?) and N3 super fleet jumped in. Mad props go to DnD here, they decided to help tackle CFC supers for us and brought constant waves of hics during the entire fight, they’ve probably lost a few dozen of them, if not more. As soon as We had tackle ready, we decided to go for Bad Poison in a Ragnarok first ( thinking Laz would be in control of it, a good CFC FC.

It went down quite well. The CFC started to struggle, telling all titans to get safe and primarying carriers from A-Z. A bunch of our Carriers died as we decided to go on Dreads again. TiDi was at 10% constantly, Local up to 2800. The next on our list was Dabigredboat’s Leviathan Oleena Natiras ( that was supposed to be black screened. We also had it tackled all the time. As soon as it was down, CFC started to pull supers out of the system too. Local continued to go up, a lot of TESTies awaiting their first titan kill. Directly following Dabigredboat’s titan, we also decided to kill his Nyx ( and the supers that were still left. Multiple crashed titans/supers were reported on savespots and planets. CFC was able to bail out most of them with their Maelstrom fleet except this RZR titan that BL. went for ( We started to clean up and killed all the carriers and dreads that were still on the field.

In the end I have to say that organizing all this went pretty well. Hedliner and Elise took the fleet over for me as soon as we went in and others were in contact with all the other entities that appeared in the fight, calling targets to them and coordinating reps.

The total numbers

Killed: 3 Titans, 6 Supers, 44 Dreads, 29 Carriers
Lost: 1 Super, 4 Dreads, 8 Carriers

some numbers might not be exactly accurate, some might be missing even.

I just hope this doesnt slow them down from risking more SC`s.

If they used Titans where they should [Hint not in Lowsec] they would have been alot better off.

A Titan without DD is like Using Arty Mach`s without Arty, looks good until you fight *fill in name here* that do the same DMG but cost a fraction of the price. Hell we said it a bunch Titans do the lowest DMG besides Carriers and cost the most….Really a Titan in Low is a Command ship with 1/2 Dread Dmg.

This post on the pretty much says that they are putting more restrictions on supers and titans so it never happens again as u can see here

      "The CFC Skyteam’s Reaction

The CFC skyteam was kind enough to have a chat with me. They recognized that mistakes were made and that the situation spiraled straight out of control. They plan to implement stricter controls over the use of supercapitals to attempt to prevent something like this from happening again."

i think that fails that fight was epic got my first titan kill and survived i want to see more fights like the question is now will the CFC's new restrictions allow it to happen

They have started attacking Sclading pass now togeather and purging most of the Russian NCC members and taking thier space from them I assume because Gorgon have been hotdropping stuff in immensea and N3 are pissed but I dont see why RA are getting involved unless they are bascially a part of the N3 coalition now, interesting turn of events if they are

I have been saying it for along time. But the question is will we?

Im scared we wont completely kill them and if GSF is the best at one thing it is not being pulled out by the stem and coming back to number 3, 2 or 1 in game.

I fought and thought we killed them with the MC then they moved after years to Cloud Ring and in Cry Havoc evicted/killed them and once more they changed there name and got 85 free tech moons and all of Dek, then we killed NC and we thought surely they would wither…..WRONG

They have outlasted most of there original murderers and even though we always beat them they are plague tough and just wont die, you have to admire it like you admire the bird flu :)

What's up with the 'Unfair' adjective being used in the 'Blob Index'?

Use neutral, factual adjectives like 'Even' and 'Uneven'.

Fairness is giving your two kids each a equal-sized slices of cake, and unfairness giving one a crumb and the other the whole cake. The concept of 'fairness' isn't applicable to fights in EVE.

    January 28, 2013 at 4:27 am Reply
    1. I have in the past given GSF the "unfair" status for blobbing the fuck out other alliances, this time the tables are turned, as a rule of thumb if the numbers are > 1.5:1, then the right is unfair.

      1. bumblefuck

Rating the ratio of one party compared to another in a fight as 'unfair' implies that it's unethical or immoral for one side to outnumber the other.

It's really like saying it was unfair Germany was outnumbered by the Allies in WWII, or the US unfairly blobbed the Spanish at Manila in 1898.

There are plenty of other adjectives that easily come to mind – such as uneven, outmatched, outnumbered, etc.

With regards to using an adjective that implies there are moral or ethical considerations to outnumbering another party in a battle or war – I'll leave you with a quote that's often paraphrased:

"The rules of fair play do not apply in love and war." – John Lyly

Simply put, the concept of 'fairness' is completely inapplicable to war, whether video game or RL.

There are plenty of games where there are certain numbers on each side….In fact Eve is one of the few that doesnt have a limit.

Also you realize John Lyly has no official title in life, how are his views of War anymore real than mine a guy who was in battle numerous times?

Fact is when you are truly trying to annihilate your opponent that is one thing and I agree rules dont apply, but when you do what GSF/CFC does and will not fight until they have more numbers than you by a major margin then brags later about victories, im sorry but thats hollow.

This was really mostly even numbers for 8/10ths of the fight, cleanup wasnt, but the main fight only happened because CFC thought they could blob the 40 SC`s.

Numbers do give guys bragging rights hate to tell you. Look at the Alamo`s 150 vs Mexico`s 20k, or the 300 or the Greeks at Marathon 2 out of 3 of those and the side we remember lost…Fact is man will always remember small groups beating huge amounts, even if we dont care for the cause its heroic.

While outnumbering is a viable tactic, everyone always will make the argument that the side who was outnumbered was definitely more skilled/more courageous. So goons can blob away but they will never get the respect others get and thats partially why now when everyone else was offered, the yjumped at the chance to finally outnumber the blobbers.

So is it a wise tactic? Not always, and esp not in the end. Just like Rome once all the enemy tribes band together, you gonna get gang banged and the Romans were actually good fighters.

Tables are turned as HBC knew about the trap set by PL so everione was there from HBC, CFC didn't knew that they were set up and at a ping's notice they manage to get 800 ppl in fleets. You must be dreaming to believe that CFC can't muster at least 3 times that. Look at PL / NC / TEST. They don't have phisically the numbers to come up with more than this. :)

        January 28, 2013 at 11:00 am Reply
        1. Wey'oun

As one of the ~5~ people who knew about this trap, (which was planned in the space of about 30 seconds after recieving intel that cfc was about to drop us, about 1 min before they actually did drop us), i can tell you HBC had exactly the same amount of reaction time as the cfc. CFC had more people on field at first and had numerical advantage until N3 and Co. arrived, that was the tippping point. If CFC had brought HICS with their initial support fleet and managed to keep them alive to hold down the PL supers they primaried, this would have been very different outcome.

Don't be so sure -They jumped in with under 40 and for the start of the fight were heavily outnumbered. But by the end of the fight PL fielded more supercaps in this fight then the entire CFC combined. They had upwards of 70 supercarriers on the BRdoc.

I wonder how many PL titans must have been ready to come in.

I think people vastly underestimate what they're really capable of if they were to pull out all the stops. Imagine if it had happened in Euro TZ, of if they had any kind of warning/time to prepare…..PL is one of the only alliances in game that has been through multiple serious supercap whelps, they know what it feels like to lose everything, and if you've been paying attention since the last time it happened you'll have realized that they've taken some pretty radical steps to ensure it never happens again.

The most obvious step being funding supercaps for each individual member, thereby ensuring that if the chips are ever really down, they can go toe to toe with any other capfleet in the game – including the CFC.

But that was a very, very small percentage of the CFC SC fleet also.

The problem you will run into is if PL/HBC and the CFC ever brought it all in a SC and Titan orgy it would be pointless. A big chunk of the time this one was worthless. With that many FB, fighters, drones and 2-3000 ships TIDI doesn't do shit. It still all comes crashing down. A big chunk of the SC losses were to black screens. How much fun is that? It's different if you go down fighting. But crashing on jump and not being able to log back in is worthless.

          3. BntyHunter

there wouldnt have been so many FB`s or Drones as NCDOT would have brought 35 Titans, and PL would have brought Titans as well rather than 20 Drones/Fighters.

In a real all out war, yes there would have been Black screens but, at same time if 150 Titans fire at once from one side you insta pop 2 Titans every DD…So there would be more Death.

The reason this sucked still was no reinforced node and it was Lowsec and stupid to bring titans.

to bad CFC wont use theres anymore in a great war, now the CFC SC pilots are starting to plan to leave to PL and groups who like SC`s incase CFC falls, so no one will want to lose there ship.

  16. that first video is epic! just show that to people and they will want to play eve. just think if that Titan did not fail bridge this might of never happened. also I think this is the fist major super fight with time dilation. it seemed to work as intended

      Work as intended… lol..

The only thing that worked was the node didnt crash (just)

15-20 mins module delay. Guns not cycling, 40 mins to jump the gate, Agression timers not clearing. etc etc hows that working as intended. Rubber banding. It was like the old days without the crashes.

Throughout the fight I shot like 15 shots. My invul wouldnt cycle so it was useless. I couldnt leave the system for over 1.5 hours when it was all done as it said I had aggression.

As usual CCP cant have 2000+ in system without the server catching fire and a horible gaming experiance.

yes the node wasnt reinforced due to it being unexpected. Yes they did their best by shifting everyone of surrounding systems to try to minimise it. But it still was FUBAR'd

Well, you can't read or can't pay attention : there were NOT 56 titans , only 28 (all BR's have each titan twice) and ALL of those 28 were CFC ones. All BR's have ONLY CFC titans on both sides (friendly & hostile).

As many fail to get it (being idiots), if this battle would bave been take place in null, the 28 (twenty-eight) CFC titans would have DD'ed (in low sec titans cannot DD) 28 caps/supers…10 min later, another 28…10 min more later, another 28.After 31 min, the CFC titans ALONE would had killed 112 caps/supers.

Well, the battle would had ended in first 11 min, after CFC had blowed up 56 caps/supers

The fact that DBRB is an idiot and jumps titans in low sec doesn't mean the CFC would not obliterate any invader (and I mean eve the ENTIRE EvE), because, well, they will totaly obliterate them.

Sure, this time everyone and their dog (about 6,500 ships) were there to kill CFC supers in LOW SEC and AWAY from homeland.

When HBC and PL will come after CFC (and they will) there won't be NCdot there, or Nulli, or provi bloc or actually the REST of EvE (except SOLAR – they are realy, realy smart).

They will find only a graveyard in north.

Recollector cfc have incompitant super and Titan pilots. PL. have as many titans if we were to take this to null sec, and you don't think they would still bat phone N3 who also have almost as many titans and supers as PL.
in conclusion cfc do not stand a chance against HBC/N3 when fighting subcaps caps supers or titans. Best cfc could do is try and trap one of the parties supers and do as much damage as tey could before the others entity got on field. The cfc's one advantage is they have there whole blob of incompitant retards in one organised area, HBC/N3 would need longer to react that the only advantage cfc would have in the war.
But HBC could always use that as an advantage and fake attack in one area, standown or bait for a possible epic fight from cfc, or simply attack a different area of cfc assets with other entity. Or HBC/N3 could relocate to a stronger position to hit in unison, either way cfc would not have the skill to go against them!

So you are proving it was even more idiotic for DBRB to even have brought Titans besides bridging….Hell taking out a small POS only would have taken 300 BS`s a few mins….

All in PL`s backyard….You are just proving how dumb you are.

Also PL would have dropped Titans in Null not just SC`s so once more your argument is null. PL has far more Titans than what GSF pulled.

this time everyone and their dog (about 6,500 ships)
          Lol WTF you smoking?
6500 ships my ass. You really are being retarded.

If it was NullSec PL either would have outnumbered them with DD`s or just waited for us NCDOT`ers who also have 25+ Titans and we would have smashed you that way.

But as I pointed out you were in Lowsec so why even bring it up ?

When HBC and PL will come after CFC (and they will) there won't be NCdot there, or Nulli, or provi bloc

And this line is just as retarded, You dont think NCDOT, or NULLI will be there? You mean the guys who wanted this fight more than anyone?

Not only will we be there but we will probably start it.

And, you do realize when it was just PL/BL/NC./Nulli we already won right? You wern`t breaking our reps and we were killing you? We really dont need anymore TBH now add HBC and its just a huge bonus. And they will provide our SubCaps if needed.

So basicly the "bait pos" as it was called achieved what it was intended in spectacular and unimaginable scale when literally whole Eve was batphoned by the Cal-Mil bait and end result was lots of dead titans, supers and capitals and unimaginable number of bad posts and comments in various websites.

Bit like happened so long ago in Hasmijaala when IBS pos lured a Hel to it's death, then combined gallente/minmatar fleet to be raped by Draketrain (then in Cal militia) and later by PL.

But hey, back then frogs said in forums "We knew we would die but went in for good fights" when in actual fact they were raging in their own voice comms and mailing lists about a colossal screw-up on how tables were turned on them.

Not True most CfC entities are FAR stronger in the EU TZ nowdays. The US TZ is struggling and even the AZ TZ is better at times to the US one.

This has changed over the last year and now the CfC is possibly the strongest EU coalition in the game. Just ask NC. BL and anyone who has fought the CfC in the last year.

They all quickly change their tactics to avoid that TZ.

As amazing and large as this fight was, LXQ still remains the historical record with over 3000 pilots in system and 15 minute lag, that was before we had tidi. Even still, a long awaited moment in Eve, I am curious to see how GSF wiggles their way out of this one. I tend to think the overall theme here is a power play gone terribly wrong. For a long time TEST was GSF's lapdog, doing their dirty work, staging smear campaigns against alliances they wanted to oust or overthrow, antagonizing other alliances, etc all the while GSF could keep their hands clean while making strategic political moves and deals behind the scenes. I don't think GSF much expected TEST to turn and bite their makers hand. Both these alliances owe their current existence to each other, now they may very well, as foreseen, end up being the end of each other. Satisfaction incoming.

No, despite all the losses and the large amount of honor that CFC held, CFC and HBC continue to be a blue status. This isn't a fight like the Drone Russian's invasion of VFK, it's just an extended 'pew pew' match. This fight was not planned, nor was it chance, it was just a fun 'gg' match and everyone enjoyed it. For the CFC, they haven't lost much, especially considering their tech holdings in the north. 1 supercarrier for Pandemic Legion? Oh, they don't even notice.

"it was just a fun 'gg' match and everyone enjoyed it."

I have observed this 'stance' many times before, especially where it concerns GSF or TEST, it's all in good fun. This infact is very much their Trojan Horse strategy. 'We aren't here to conquer, we just want to be friends and have fun, and we bring gifts.' And once in position and the time is right, the inevitable knife in the back. I've seen this strategy used time and again by GSF/TEST and it was painfully obvious in the NC vs DRF conflict. Seriously, consider GSF, consider TEST, and ask yourself, given the positioning and advantage you think either one would be the one to say 'nah we can't do that to our bros'. Isn't going to happen.

    My first post,
Demanded by one little green box at the end of the article: "Blob Index 1:2 UNFAIR". I am sorry but are you people insane? Are you freaking (can i use curse words like fuck on this site? better continue this way) retarded? What do you mean unfair? This is a sim game, it simulates a futuristic society and it's interaction may it be economic, warfare, thieving, scamming and bullying or just swapping fashion pointers. To that effect we apply what we learn, know, think, dream up or desire.
History teaches us that blobbing is not only a viable tactic in warfare it is also advisable (think shock and awe.. not Bush.. shock and awe i "says") or if you are a bit old fashion think German.. sure, history also teaches us that blobbing can sometimes fail (now think Alexander at Gaugamela) but it usually prevails/helps and sometimes substitutes skill/courage/knowledge, take your pick.
I am a reader more then a player but my humble opinion on this fight is, well.. think Japanese at Pearl Harbor IF and that is a big IF this materializes into some sort of true conflict (not designating sides, stop throwing precious vegetables) and i say this because the numbers do not add up.
For a part time miner/highsec carebear like me who enjoys the game for the beauty of it's graphics twice a week for no more then 2 hours, 400+ billion is more then i can ever dream (or add up <– bad at math) but in my opinion this amount of isk is rather chum change for an alliance with 8000 or 9000 members, more to the point the alliance that holds a big amount/chunk of tech moons (as far as i understand this tech thing is more valuable then veldspar, i know hard to belive but read on). Oh, and this alliance/corp or whatever has been piling up isk lately by beeing a bit care bear-ish, haven't they?

Anyway, stop being idiots (can i say that?) about tactics and strategy, everything is fair in love and war!
Hoping to read about more pew pew on this subject (preferably in null next time), fly safe (or, whatever ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
