As announced a few days ago, the EVE Online: Retribution will feature a refreshed UI centered in a newly designed brackets for locked targets, here it is a short video showcasing how it looks like:

Spreadsheets has never been so pretty! j/k

Update: A Wild JonnyPew Appears!

This is actually my bad for skipping this one, JonnyPew also covered the “Circles Thingy” in this awesome Our Eve program, here is the episode:

The locked box showing hp is fucking terrible. The original is 10 times better.

    Everything else is nice

Won't you please just think of the lag? Seriously CCP are the worst graphics programmers ever, considering what this game actually displays versus the crappy performance involved. Oh yeah the eye candy is pretty, but god forbid you have more than 20 objects on the screen, never mind 1,000 or so.

I think the new target lock looks cooler but it's less intuitive. I guess all those people who say ccp are trying to dumb down eve can suck a big fat one.

What on earth are you on about… This is rendering on the cilent side. If it's not on the server side, it won't cause lag.

I think they even mention it somewhere that they were extra careful to only use the info that is already sent to the client.

Read up some before you barf shit out.. jeez.

The round targetting / health brackets look nicer but they seem less functional so all in all a step back and I dont think it needed fixing so effort wasted that could CCP could spend on something more important.

Agreed, I'm a prophet and can see the future.

There will be tears and the new target huds will become an option.

That said and while being a huge fan of skilful MS PAINT skill perhaps the concept of addition more functionality could be considered?

I know discovering the circle is exciting and all….

      Just a thought

Locking targets look good. Circles around Target looks good. Locked Target health bar on Targeted list on top right hand corner….FUCKING HORRIBLE…. leave the old shit alone it works, nothing broken. go fix the broken shit, like certain systems where u get out 50km and u are off grid…. CCP needs to do something better with all their free time instead of changing things that work.

Its mindless trend following that usually happens when apple or now google does makeover. The idea is not to look 'dated' and if u lose or gain functionally, well meh.

Ocassionally something good comes out of it, but often its ruined by other crap brought in at the same time.

People will adapt within hours. I think it looks good and once peeps get the hang of it, it'll be no different functionally than before. I look forward to playing with it.

the round health bars are just plain awful…now there is no way to tell how much of what a target has in relation to each other and makes it rather hard to judge the amount of hp it has left altogether…eyeballing round circles is far harder than straight lines…pointless change…but then again i can't say i'm surprised at something like this…not after unified inventory in any case.

hmmm i like it. I think the changes are refreshing, it might be a little harder to make decisions based on target health though cuz they're not 3 parallel lines right on top of eachother anymore, but maybe not. And nice job on the new explosion effects, pvper's are smiling everywhere. Overall, i think its progress.

True there are other issues witch are more important but at least its something.
A little fresh air after nearly 10 years of same screen adn interfaces doesnt hurt, besides, it looks cool and not complicated at all, and i think its fitting well or even better for the most kind of player in eve.
and there will still be major bugfixes etc and rebalancing and stuff… so dont worry… btw im eager to see the new minmatar models in action

There seems to be 2 sides to this, the side that doesnt like it because they have to deal with alot of targets in a pvp situation, and the side that likes it cause they only deal with npcs… you can tell that because they have no idea how thats going to look if your logi or dps. And yeah we know we will whine and bitch and get used to it, the point you missed is why do we have to work uphill to learn the new shit that replaced the stuff that wasnt broken. Jesus.

Please vote if you find this idea useful.
The Problem: When I'm in a gang, I can see all my allies in range on ship-scan, but it does not tell me who is ally and who is NOT, until an enemy lands on grid. Can CCP add a -blue-red-yellow label on ship-scanner please, so that I know an enemy is approaching…..
I think, this would be more useful, than all those fancy enhancements.

A scan alone shouldn't reveal whether a given ship is piloted by a friend/enemy/neutral, but ships within sight of you should definitely have that sort of tag.

Alternatively, add on a minimum range setting, zero being default. At least then you wouldn't have anyone within ~100 km of you showing up, and you would know whether you find someone warping in or you're just picking up a squadmate.

You ignorant little scrub…you are just like the women who buy stuff wich looks good and shiny on the outside and is nicely packed but it's just a useless thing they throw away after a few days…
All I did say is that they should be concentrating on things to make eve BETTER, NOT NICER and still broken inside…but prolly in your few months of eve have only played in belts or missions with max zoom in so you can see the effects…I guess the NPC has no more secrets for you and now you need that change…
PS No, I will not leave eve and even if I leave and leave you my stuff you wouldn't have much use for it becouse my stuff is not for missioning/ratting so therefore you will have no clue what to do with it but sell it….(bet you have max trade skills)

I think if most things CCP added were optional the game would be much better. All their additions are not actually beneficial to a large chunk of players.

Why are they giving this attention when……
Grids breaks randomly or grids just don't load, module timers are always out of sync, heat often doesn't show up for several cycles then suddenly overheated, pop-ups block you from clicking on overview, users have little control over the layout of the screen (everything should be movable and size adjustable to any size), overview settings should able to be saved as-is and then loaded back to be EXACTLY as they were, tab limit on overview is too low, when heat is turned on then off modules often still appear to be heated, sometimes your ship will blow up AFTER you enter warp

How long has this game been out?

Yeah, and you're making useless changes while core functionality of flying in space is still broken in so many ways…..

I've been playing eve for 2 years and I've lived at 3 different addresses with different ISP's, I've heard of it happening to many people, and also observed it on streams. You are probably just like the majority of eve players and oblivious to what is actually happening when these things occur.
