I’m back from Easter break, hope you guys have enjoyed yours. I got a ton of news to post, so let’s gets started shall we?

Raiden. Alliance forfeits Throughout Tenal in Wake of DekCo Attack – is Tribute Coming Next?

Rather than fighting an impossible war against the Deklein Coalition, Raiden. decided to completely forfeit the Tenal region. This eased the job for the Deklein Coalition to take the entire region in less than a week.

Raiden. Tenal Sov – DOTLAN

Last Monday I was doing my customary transit into Jita when I cynoed into the Jan solar system, which to my surprise was filled mostly by Raiden. members. A red flag obviously came up and I convo’ed a few Raiden. members which I confronted with a “you guys leaving?” question.

Tactical redeployment to a place where our (outnumbered) forces can actually do some damage rather than grind day in and day out at 10% tidi :).

We held them fine when goons had 600-700 only, they blueballed us consistently. But once they reached 900-1000+, we couldn’t really do much.

Except grind a hopeless fight 200 v 1000. And that at 10% tidi.

Another Raiden. member quoted:

Regarding where are we moving to; most of it would be speculations. But if we’re not able/willing to defend Tenal, why stay in Venal? 😛

You have to remember that Raiden is a very specialized alliance. We are ‘heavy hitters’.

We can brawl it out with most alliances in this game, and win 10 out of 10 times. But our 2,000 man alliance simply don’t have the numbers to fight a (now) 40,000 man coalition.”

Riverini: “I wonder if u guys ‘know’ something about the upcoming tech redistribution I might be overlooking?”

“That wouldn’t surprise me :) But to be honest, very few Raiden members (except some of our ratters) even like Tenal

I’m personally glad as hell we leave it… it looks stupid that a 2000 man alliance with no real wish for SOV sits on such huge areas.

You can’t even have sov in Tenal without having domination in 2-3 other regions.”

Yeah, I think that ‘lil ‘coalition’ we had going never even reached full momentum. Once Init and Ev0ke had no more Tech left, it was a no go 😉 That’s at least the impression I had, Ev0ke, Init, NCdot, etc. wasn’t fully dedicated.

No idea where things go now :) But former NC is reshaping nicely now. Which is a shame.

Give a year, and they’ll be fully back to 50,000 – 60,000 members again, this time with Goons at the helm.”

The BroPact is Still Intact

Although we asked our DekCo informant whether Tribute was next, an assessment they denied. Today, this came up in our drop-box, apparently writen by The Mittani on GSF forums:

Tenal Down in a Week. Now What?

While we were at Fanfest, NCdot violated a six month+ treaty with us; they SBU’d BKG, dropped supercaps in Tenal, and promptly lost three Titans to us. We haven’t acted against NCdot despite them flinging our longstanding gentleman’s agreement in our faces, because our focus on Tenal required singlemindedness. Tenal is ours now – it is time for vengeance.

We will take NCdot’s Venal moons and distribute them among the coalition; there are 20+ on offer, a staggering amount of money (which is all the more reason why I’m surprised/amused that NCdot violated the agreement; we have only a handful of Venal techs, so they gained much more from the peace than we did). While we do this, we remain in CS-. Once this act of retribution is completed, we will return to VFK and turn our focus towards Jita – no, we’re not invading Tribute.

CS-. One more week. 20+ tech moons. Let’s get paid.

Note for spergs: PL and GSF have had a completely successful agreement, and we will of course abide by it and not be hitting any PL moons in Venal, because you’d have to be retarded and/or NCdot to toss such a profitable arrangement out the window for nothing. “

I’ll write an interesting Cosmopewlitan piece concerning the current state of the North, but as an afterthought I’ll just leave what I think was the crowning achievement of the former NC here.

As a former NC I must admit I am a bit excited.

I loved the NC for what it meant: the NC was an entity engaged in a forever war, some times fighting 5 fronts at the same time. and it embraced a lot of players, specially industrial ones.

A huge decentralized mpire like the one I linked at the end of the article was something to be amazed. Then just like the great roman empire, the NC feel from internal facture and shitty leadership than outside pressure.

The worst thing about the NC (and CFC) are the ratters. Not the rank and file who go on fleets, but the faggots who are the fairweather friends who dont fight for their space. When there is a deployment youd expect a drop in ratting; not so. While the sanctums and such might be clearer, the anoms are still being run as soon as they spawn

The NC had a critical mass where their membership was almost entirely ratters, and not enough willing to fight for the space. By tribute, a bare 40-80 people from MM could be bothered to log in; the rest had already fled to empire, worthless shitheads. If the same thing happens to the CFC, disaster would not be far off.

Riverini, were you one of them? did you leave before tribute fell?

I think you called out a snapshot of Eve history, at a time of the tripartite null-sec when there was a balance between three empires and three different ethos of the null-sec alliance.

First, you had the NC, which embraced the “bear” way, using a core of industrialists to support a large force. This had some positive effects, in that it tempted a lot of empire-huggers out into null-space.

Second, you have BoB, which embraced the “l33t” way, using a core of high-skill point toons and fancy ships to exercise control over a coalition of renters.

Finally, you had the GoonSwarm (arguably RedSwarm) “n00b locust’ way, tempting flocks of n00bs quickly into null-sec in order to overwhelm their opponents via numbers.

When the Détente broke with the fall of BoB and later the NC, Eve lost a little bit – but hey, great thing about a sandbox is getting to build new stuff all over again.

I mean, there's only so much space one could have. personally, I hated the NC and I see CFC (read: goons) becoming the new NC. They even have all of it's old space…

It's starting to look this way, but if -A-, SOLAR, ROL, IRC, Raiden., and NCDOT team up, we'd have a good old fashion 1 on 1, mano a mano. Thing with the southern boys is that they like to reset each other once the fighting is done though…

I would of been shocked if the goons and there pets had left tribute alone after all the fighting they need tribute to supply tenal and venal, tribute was always going to be hit and nc. has been fighting goons for months not a new thing lets be honest the mitanni is still chest beating from behind his desk got to admit he does it well but the goon momentum is now slowing as the school holidays come to an end and they wont make any real big pushes now till christmas (maybe the summer holidays but activity is always rubbish for all alliances in summer).

Yup. Just 1 year ago, RZR ran from Tenal and Branch faster than Leroy with a VCR under his arm. Two whole regions fell to Raiden. and WN. without any real fights. The only fighting that occurred was from the Branch renters (UNIT) that actually stood their ground even after their "masters" had ran with their tail between their legs.

So yeah, "momentum" is sort of relative. It's easy to claim victory in battle when you don't actually have to fight.

The CFC doesn't need anymore space. While making sense geographically and financially, taking tribute is not worth the trouble; NCdot typically provides decent fights, and who would be installed there? Perhaps TEST, but then who would Fountain go to? Just doesn't make sense in the long run.

As for the blueballing…I quite clearly recall being in Maelstrom fleets and welping against Team Tech Titans…I also quite clearly remember getting completely blueballed from start to finish in Tenal. Both sides blueballed at some point or another, it's rather silly to put it all on one side. oh and DIDN'T WANT THAT REGION ANYWAYS!

And long term, I don't see the CFC turning into the old NC. I'm not naive enough to say it isn't possible; I just think the two are completely different entities. Uniform fleet doctrines, the most advanced logistics teams in the game, an extremely organized chain-of-command, along with some of the strongest leadership in the game are all things the NC lacked and the CFC excels at. And the fact that the CFC had the "pleasure" of watching the NC rot away, and can learn from its mistakes. Plus, I truly just don't see goons becoming complacent with their new found super wealth, especially with The Mittani at the helm.

the cfc and "the most advanced in game" do not go in the same sentence. Ever. They have the most logistics in game cuz they can throw the amount of logistics on grid as most alliances can put people, in no way does that make them "advanced"

I'm not sure "advanced logistics" is something to brag about. That's like saying you can walk AND chew bubble gum. And as for uniform fleet doctrines, most of the major 0.0 sov alliances use uniform fleet doctrines. Nulli with their panic geddons, Solar with their Alpha mael/HAC fleets, and -A- with their drake/tengu army. Hell, even RA has a decently uniform fleet doctrine of terribad fit Abaddons, which they can't afford to whelp anymore tbh. 300 mil for a T1 battleship? That's ridiculous.

I think it speaks to the fact that pilots never had to go far for ships, ammo, or mods. Pilots were able to reship or change fleet doctrine in minutes. Also the JB network is outstanding and fleets can move very quickly to hot spots. Also hat-tip to the capital team for keeping those behemoths feed.

Mittani plays the political game better than most. He's built a strong coalition, the CFC pets/partners/best bros show up when Mittani calls for their support – that is why the CFC can put 6 independently operating fleets on the field at once.

Maybe some alliances should spend less time complaining about the "Goon Blob" and more time forging the diplomatic links that will allow them to muster the numbers to resist the Goons.

Last time RZR held space, it was space they deserved and worked for.

Now they've been relegated to minor, neutered pet status within the CFC. Tenal is being given to them by Goons. They wouldn't be able to hold any space if they actually had to fight to take and hold it. It's sad to see a once strong and independent entity having to resort to sucking Goonie dick to get their "homeland" back.

RZR still has some deep pockets and some VERY capable people. Their mistake was failure to adapt and embracing an old guard mentality that was resistant to the changing environment and leadership needs. Long before they lost tenal, there were prominent people in that alliance saying the BEST thing that could happen to them was to actually loose tenal and thus force the purge. Now that it's done, I'm watching you guys to see if it was actually the catalyst you thought it'd be.

They don't chicken shit out doofus. CFC made a deal with PL and NC. There was an agreement to leave each other's assets alone in Venal. One that clearly favored NC. and PL with dozens of tech moons.

However NC. proved to be paste eaters, and promptly decided that they didn't want that ISK anyways. PL is unlikely to follow suit and head to the arts & crafts cabinent for some glue. They have an isk printing machine guarded by the largest coalition to the north and west, and to the east by themselves and brosefs.

Just once I'd like to see an alliance lose and not portray 'the blob' as some cheap tactic. Especially when they've all used it. Raiden had that space because they out blobed another blob: now it's happened to them. It was no more or less l33t when they used it than now.

CCP needs to open up some more NPC space.

    1. its more like raiden used the Anti blob ship in "blob" formation. Called Titans. A smaller alliance was able to stand up and win against an entire coalition thats 10x there size. Yes thats titans working as intended and now goons cry to CCP saying there "OP" because if goons can't blob it, you might as well nerf it.

What we need right now is stability.
Any coalition that wants to be strong needs to build the infrastructure and maintain their fleets to the maximum of their abilities. For me the strongest alliance in game is Solar.
As we all know Solar and -A- are very good friends and any attack on -A- will bring the Solar Fleet by their side and i dont think Goons are stupid to do anything like that.

I wish that CFC never heads to the southeast. They'd go down there, steamroll them so hard they'd retreat to npc space or throw some allies under the bus to act as speed bumps. Once a cowardly alliance, always a cowardly alliance.

CFC steam rolls? (haha) they fly quick reship and kitchen sink fleets which whelp ridiculously unless have over double numbers and dont get tidi high enough for them to keep thier kitchen untensils alive. They wouldnt dare get to far form home as it stops them reshipping, hence bringing everything they had to abort 2 baby titans and fight a 100man defense fleet.

Only thing CFC is good at is whining on forums to get nerfs to anyhting which can counter a blob – FACT! I just wish the game could handle the blob so that it was still down to tactics even with tidi maxed out, unforuntaly everytime ccp finds a way to counter blobs or lag, Goons and pets just find a way to get around it to grind it to a hault and be back to how it was :(

Ok, so what you are basically saying to the CFC FC's are to keep their fleets to a maximum of players (200 work for you?), based on the first come first served style.

Anybody who wants to X up for fleet after that 200 max limit should just stay in their home and rat or something?…
You should be more bothered to see that those 1000 "noobs" that the CFC usually fields are present every fight, tirelessly… even when facing a boring sov grinding mechanic…

Oh, and u should consider that even noobs are learning to play the game, they get their skills up and get better at the game… I mean even TEST has titans for crying out loud…

            April 11, 2012 at 6:59 am
          5. Spangleadesh

No i'm saying there isnt a need to have that many people blued in one coalition, lots of people can field 600-800 man fleets if pushed and they call in the favours of allies. The difference is a 1k fleet from CFC is the norm now, no matter what they are facing they take everything, lag out the game then cry victory – how their members have fun is beyond me as the times i've had the misfortune to have to fight them its wait wait wait until they get 1k people then they blob, system dies in seocnds and then its attempting to shoot or rep people with the rediculous lag….

Its not Goons being better in anyway, they dont have better pilots or tactics, hell they dont even field better ships or attempt anything new its pure numbers to overwhelm people. This whole "its not our fault you dont have as many friend" is bullshit, most other people would rather have a good fight, be able to move properly and actually shoot at what you want, not a slugfest while reading forums between targets.
The problem is Goons keep space this way, no way to counter it since they cry on forums to get nerfs on anyhting that can counter it and get RMiTani elected to csm to sway the nerfs – its retarded logic it really is as there is no progression for the game.

A simple analogy would be Goons play games with maxed out grafics settings on a shit pc so it plays at 2fps and wank over how the grafics look – the rest of the people lower them to play 30fps and play the game as it was meant to be played!

          6. anonymous

            OK, I actually understand what you are saying but;
1.IF they do not field those big numbers and drop the coalition, what will they do to keep the huge space? Divided they are weak.. but together they are an unstoppable bunch.
2.The CFC Leadership and core FC’s are extremely competent. Nobody can really deny that, even though the Mitani is a douche, asshole, or whatever else you wanna call him, he is very good at what he does. It takes some big political and diplomatic skills to govern over such an huge amount of people.
3.Those noobs are growing, gaining skill… THIS should worry you… Really bad. TEST has improved ten-fold after their bro-mance with PL. And that’s just the beginning.

And now, let’s be honest… their fleet doctrine is genius. WHY would they change it? It’s working perfectly with what they are doing ATM…cheap, low sp requirement, high alpha, decent tank … and for that porpoise alone, the maelstrom is king.

So my question is, why would they change? ANYTHING.. ? They are not the wannabe ‘l33t’ pvp-ers.

          7. Mmkay

Just because your butthurt friends fail at diplomacy doesn't mean diplomacy isn't a valid strategy. What is "bullshit" is that you can't seem to grasp that every major war, every epic downfall of an empire isn't the result of some small elite 120 man fleet. It is diplomacy. It is always groups of smaller entities who gather their core competencies and forge an effective counter.

All of these once great and mighty empires were undone by the uniting of smaller alliances to poke at the cracks in their armor. I'm not sure why you don't grasp how diplomacy is fielding a better fleet, a better coalition. It is like you are saying a lone rifter should be able to take down a titan because the titan pilot is cheating because he has amassed more skillpoints.

IDK if you realize this but the NC hasn't been blueing more alliances.

The CFC has blued one alliance (BLM) in the last 6 months.

At the height Xxlegion and the old NC were adding more and more crappy small alliances as fast as possible to bolster numbers.

The CFC has been expanding in terms of # of pilots, but not more alliances.

        2. The Observer

Everybody wants that right now. Eve needs less stability. As it stands now, it's almost impossible for a new alliance to gain sov anywhere in 0.0 with large power blocs hanging around. Only recently with the fall of RA and xDeathx have small alliances gotten the opportunity to gain their own sov. Being in a large power bloc alliance myself, I think that people need to scale down the territory war and work on the fun stuff like HAC roams and the good ol' fashioned 100 on 100 fleet battles. You don't need 3 regions in order to support 200 people tbh.

            April 10, 2012 at 2:47 pm
          2. The Observer

To be fair, once you get intel on a 500 man gang flying through, you have WAY more than enough time to either blue ball them or get a fleet of comparable size/counter their ship types. I mean, when it takes 15 minutes to warp through each system, it gives you time to come up with a strategy.

            April 10, 2012 at 3:12 pm
          3. BAMbam

Yeah but theres usually another 300 man gang a system off and another 7 jumps out. The CFC has so many coalition members that even if they get 1% of their members into a fleet your going to need a high ass coalition turnout to get anywhere near those numbers.

This situation is now no longer a roam but a CTA

I quite disagree. I've been part of the Initiative Mercenaries team that's been camping the BKG / LXWN gate on Branch for the past 2 weeks. We've literally made billions from their loot drops and salvage.

Seriously, we've been on the SAME GATE for 2 weeks now and they keep feeding us the kills non-stop. We've started referring to them as "CFC Spawns" and "Loot Piñatas" they've been so regular, predictable and just don't learn. They more than paid for the costs of our jump fuel and few lost ships.

No kidding, there are dim-witted people in the CFC just like any other alliance. Its hoped that once you kill/pod them they will learn a valuable lesson about traveling in a system with reds. For the life of me i can't figure out why people insist on warping gate-to-gate with neuts in local. "CFC spawn" I love it.

Honestly, the CFC has more dimwits than most alliances, and Goons like it that way. When you're a superpower, you don't want pets that are strong, experienced and able to stand up for themselves. Because if they decide to turn on you eventually, you have a real problem on your hands.

What the superpower want is legions of useless meatshields that they can use to overwhelm their foes with sheer numbers. It's about quantity over quality. They don't want strong pets. They want weak pets that can bolster their numbers. 1000 noob F1 monkies flying cheap ships in your fleet will bring you victory if the other side can only muster 1/4 of that number.

Seriously, when was the last time that Goons fought as Goonswarm proper? The NC war from last year is pretty much the last time. Since then, the pets are the pointy end of their spear every time.

If you knew anything about goon strat. you would know they would hit those pets first hopeing thier masters would standby and watch. Just look at what they did with WNdot, raidendot, I know they are not pets of anyone, but look what happened, they offered peace to NCdot, and raidendot well they hit WNdot, NCdot was dumb enough to take the offer, and watched WNdot falter. Only to get a grip on reality too late to do anything but watch raidendot lose thier space in tenal. Now raidendot will likly watch as NCdot loses it's space in tribute.

Doubt it. Goons are fast becoming the threat to EVE null sec that the DRF were and BoB before them. While some of the l33t alliances have trouble blueing becuase their members bitch about blues its becoming more obvious that Goons are the largest threat to all other EVE null sec entities.

because with logoff mechanics now changed, its smart to engage 200v1000 with supers. u can just loggoffski if u lose a few… oh wait… rdn didnt want to welp their whole super fleet for funs?

It wasnt RDN, it was NC. only sitting on a gate far too long and ran into cfc prime chasing a fight because goons blueballed as they only had 600-700 in fleet.

If it was the combined NC. and RDN fleet goons wouldnt have dropped it like they did, they waited 2 hours to get 1200 in fleet including 200 supers to drop a 200man fleet with 70 supers- while making sure they knew exactly how many NC. had andf that most of RDN had already logged off.
Such brave heroism from the mighty goons lol – but yeah keep beating that war drum of Goons bravely taking down the "evil" super blob, when infact there was barely 20 deployed and a 1200 man fleet failed that badly they only manage to grab 3, even after they manage to cry their way to getting supers nerf batted and no log off mechanics hahaha

The only bad thing about this is: NO SUPERCAP LOSSES. There is thousands of titans and tens of thousands of SCs in game and everyone is just scared to bring them to a real fight. RAIDEN was bold to bring them only when they were sure they wouldn't lose one even without remote reps. When goons brought enough numbers to kill a titan, they just blueballed instead of fighting. And all that shit after months of sitting on tech moons.

This is really stupid, so many supercaps coming to game, and losses just few. How come that loss of a supercarrier is a subject to article on evenews? Isn't like one of 10k ships of its class in game was lost? That should have no importance! Really guys, when old NC fought DRF, the supercaps were not rare stuff already and tens of them burned. Today, they are almost common item and what RAIDEN does? NOTHING. Just runs and hides.

In some ways goons are similar (except they can indeed only blob up or die.. or both). We are in the north purely to kill terrible terrible goons and worse pets. If the south is threatened nothing could make us happier to return home to a place full of people to kill.

"While we were at Fanfest, NCdot violated a six month+ treaty with us; they SBU’d BKG, dropped supercaps in Tenal, and promptly lost three Titans to us. We haven’t acted against NCdot despite them flinging our longstanding gentleman’s agreement in our faces, because our focus on Tenal required singlemindedness. Tenal is ours now – it is time for vengeance."

Of course there was never any intention of moving on Venal once Tenal was out of the way was there? Goons are always true to their word. Until it doesn't suit them anymore, then trump up some excuse afterwards. Engage an objective, tell everyone else your friendly and won't attack them, then once your objective is out of the way trump up some excuse to attack someone else.

Do you read what you write? NC. dropping supers and SBU'ing their staging system is hardly a "trumped" up excuse. Unless I need to don a tin foil hat and realize that Goons must have paid NC. to break their treaty….

RA w friends versus Nulli w friends have pretty balanced numbers.

Red Alliance have more supercapitals, but that does not mean much unless you can somehow hold the field with subcaps first of all. It is, under very particular circumstances, adviseable to deploy supers to swing the battle in your direction, but it is risky and mostly not recommended.

Which is what Raiden did. No more supercapitals/titans deployed as long as the subcap battlefield could not be consistently held – simply due to sheer numbers and constant waves of TiDi-turboed reinforcements working in favor of CFC as time dragged out and EU TZ dwindled and US TZ kicked in.

This is no magic and no mystery related to this, its simply a matter of math – and at the end, a numbers game. I'd say 350-450 Raiden/friends versus 700-800 CFC/friends borderlines to 'heroic' (and CFC still blueballed most of those) while 350-450 Raiden/friends versus 1200-1500 CFC/friends, is plain stupidity.

Anyhoo, I believe Nulli have a very good chance of winning the war against RA – unless CFC starts intervening. Which means SC will intervene… and…and…and… this is where shit gets interesting…

Lol the comments from the raiden pilots are partly wrong.

-INIT was crazy fully comitted to this war with you. We did over 200 tower ops. RFs and kills. We showed up for every fight we could join, and we roamed the hell out of the north.

-Ev0ke were sorta inactive, and ncdot was very active in the US TZ(after they got their asses to H-W and comitted)

-INIT and IM also have been harrassing BKG for the last two weeks, getting hundreds of kills.

Team tech was gaining momentum, but then ncdot had to finnish the XIX contract stuff and evoke got inactive. and RDN kept using us as meatshields. PL were never involved up here. They have moons in venal too. We arent gonna save them just so we have a light blue ticker by them.

That rdn grunt u contacted riverini was full of no good intel. Go ask the alliance you are in about whats really going on, since we are *mercs* *pets* whatever you would like to calls us.

But yes, I fully agree. I've been part of every major US TZ op INIT has been a part of since January, and many of the EU TZ. I've also been one of the top contributors to our cloaky Branch harassment campaign. I can quite guarantee that out of everyone in "Team Tech", the INIT family have been participating more than even our employers and their allies. Not only that, but , and we've been punching well above our weight in all ops we've been involved in.

So whatever way this war goes, INIT wins regardless. It's nice to be a participant in this conflict without being a stakeholder.

I hope CFC resets their pets, they are unlikely going to get too many more actual fights if they keep outnumbering hostiles like they are, especially if they keep flying cheap ships.

AAA should work with NC./Raiden. to kill CFC, then complete reset, and actual pvp can resume.
