How can Hexx say stay away from contracts when many items can only be purchased/sold with contracts?

    March 5, 2012 at 9:11 pm Reply
    1. because he focuses on volume trading, which is the most profitable activity in game.

I would not doubt that its more profitable but there are many items in which you can't have market buy/sell orders and staying away from these high value items due to inability to read a contract seems a bit ridiculas to me

Well, that's how I make most of my money. It's tough, and requires a lot of number crunching. Let's just say that's how I finance my PLEX hoarding habits.

Contracts have their place, and by all means, feel free to use them. That said, they fit a low volume/high margin trading style and require intimate knowledge of the market value of that item (without the benefit of structured historical data on regular market items on the market). Sometimes they can be used for regular items as well, but that requires cross-checking market information and when bundled can put additional complexity when it comes to valuation of the contract. All said and done, it requires a very thorough knowledge of item valuation and contract mechanics to do safely and well.

Hopefully that wasn't too general and obviously people will disagree with me, but that's just my take on it.

Also, my personal trading style is to focus on higher volume trading, riverini is correct.

The explaination of the Margin Trading scam in this report was incorrect. Contracts are not usually used unless he's talking about a different scam them what I am familiar with

The Margin trading scam does not deal with contracted items but Items in station that are way overpriced and haveing the same item with a buy order even higher but demanding that a large number can only be purchased yet the purchasing alt not having enough ISK to cover the purchase

These give EN24 an NPR-ish feel, which kind I makes it feel more relavant. This seems to be a trend, so please continue.

Now all I want is the ability to stream this through the EvE client and cruise the gates in a noob ship with a Sea Shepard bumper sticker on the hull sipping on a starbucks in my NEX hipster turtleneck. Only then will the NPR feel be perfect.

Srsly though, I dig the hell out of this. I need this for my commute into work everyday! Thanks for posting it here I had no idea.

Glad this article pointed out its not just mining & mission bots that are being targeted that is news to me that market bots are also being hit :) Now I hope that people using scripts to ninja loot/bot also start getting the ban hammers.

I wish I knew about this earlier. Pretty cool post, now I know what I'll be listening to every morning

I do like this kind of reporting it's quite entertaining, like the mineral price update at the begining also =p
But gotta say, unless your into market pvp or have that kind of interest in eve it does get a wee bit boring listening to it.
Maybe think about doing a smaller feature piece, with more general/universal reporting thrown in.
Having said that, keep up the good work.

Quite honestly, the section about the all-powerful market bots is ever so true. I can tell you right now, my market orders no longer get out-bid within seconds. Jita, Hek, and Amarr aren't the only ones that are affected. Rens market is a lot better now. I no longer have to update my 100+ orders every few hours. Now it's just every other day or so.

I really like that this guy does this. I only wish he'd specify where he is. Markets do vary by region
