The modern era of EvE has seen the rise of concentrated campaigns of terror and suicide ganking in high-sec.   Sometimes, these campaigns have a strategic goal, a la the Goon’s Ice Interdiction, and others have the simple goal of tear harvesting like Hulk-a-geddon.  These efforts are well publicized and carebears catch word to stay docked until the campaign is over.  The carebears weren’t so lucky this week.

Chinese Tear Farmers Strike High-Sec

The last week has seen a campaign of terror that has gone unpublicized and the destructon of ships together worth more than 100 billion isk.  The targets of the ganking were faction battleships, marauders, and tech 3 cruisers.  Curiously, Goons, TEST, and the other usual suspects were absent from the list of involved parties on the kill mails. The perpetrators of the ganking instead came from an unusual group: the Chinese.

Evenews24 was informed of the campaign by capsuleer Mrdiao who provided us with links to the (API verified) killmails.  The carnage wrought by these suiciding Tornadoes came from a simple calculation of success.  As Mrdiao stated in his submitted BR: “Then I got an idea: well, since many people are just looking for simple poping fun and comparing the kill/loss ratio, why not just doing this in the high-sec? 6 Tornado(360M in total) can easily kill a golem maybe worth 1.5B or more, awesome kill raito! [sic]”

For only have started on February 21st, the Chinese EvE community was able to summon an incredible amount of havoc.  Highlights incude:

4.4B Charon: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12534183

3.4B CNR: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12572465

3.4B Tengu: http://kb.stainwagon.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=6364

3.8B Machariel: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12573417

3.9B Occator: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12573850

300M  Hookbill: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12561892

The campaign was enough fun that word began to spread and each night participation in the festivities increased.  Further, it managed to convert pilots who were dedicated carebears into “really blood-thirsty bad guys”.  It will be exciting to see if this event leads directly to the creation of a dangerous Chinese PVP community in New Eden.

Consider yourself warned Carebear Nation.

Yes they have their own server, but there are ways to escape from the matrix. Also, iirc Hong Kong internet laws arent as restrictive as the one from the mainland, at least that's what my RL work chinese suppliers used to tell me.

Most of the "Chinese" players I have met are Taiwanese. Very different folks (Quite nice actually) and very different rules/laws. I would almost be willing to bet a few bil that the players described in the article are actually Taiwanese.

its like saying texans arent americans, the federal government overseas their foreign relations, but thats about it.

Also they are in fact Chinese, even if they are from Taiwan, unless of course they are mostly ethnically Taiwanese, then you would be correct.

It's not rare that someone gets their first taste of pvp action by high-sec griefing and ganking. As this is the first concentrated effort by any Chinese players on Tranq, it isn't impossible to imagine that they could continue to act in concert and begin to have an impact on more than just carebears.

I'm more interested in seeing a campaign board or some sort of focused participation on the KMs. Besides a few names that reappear and many others being more or less no name corps or NPC corps, all it tells me is that it's a few people multi-boxing or even 1 guy with whatever those programs are that allow you to control a dozen+ clients at once.

I could resubmit the same info with slight tweaks and say members of congress, or the Egyptian Mafia or whomever are ganking pricey highsec stuff for tears.

Anyone ever see the Hypocrisy in High sec ganks? So-called Pvpers think that PvP should be everywhere. Always their justification anyways. But at the same time, popping multibillion isk hulls is akin to the "Carebears" they despise….. shooting red crosses that don't particularly shoot back.

Whatever floats your boat, but I certainly prefer shooting others who want to shoot you, and who could teach you a thing or two about actual PvP. With an actual trepidation that you could lose something whilst trying to do the same to another……

Shooting bears, dropping Titans on BS gangs, Super blobs, 500 V 500 lagfests…….

Just to clear things up for those who are confused: The Chinese do have their own server, Serenity. However, some are also able to access TQ through a couple different ways, especially if they happen to be geographically located close to an area with less restriction.

Also, while their server is F2P, since they are on TQ, they are still regulated to the subscription based system we are.(obvious, I know, but some people may need this to be pointed out to them)

Simple tips to keeping expensive shit alive:

Once you get it out of Jita keep it out of Jita, and off the main travel routes.
Never ever use it for anything other than carebearing in a small constellation.
Never take it out of this constellation.
If for some reason you absolutely need to move it and can't get it couriered to its destination, DON'T USE FUCKING AUTOPILOT.
And finally, if you're still unable to avoid ganking then don't buy the ship and learn to skill properly.

I for one am tooling up a Vindicator for some proper pew-pew, fuck keeping expensive shit docked or only for carebearing. I might end up losing it but I'll have so much more fun.
