Silent Dodger has long been an important figure in the politics of the Russian alliances of Eve.  He has been instrumental in different out of game events, in game wars, and general Eve stuff.  He started out his career in Russian Coalition dot in 2007.  Within the year, he had joined the new, up and coming, Legion of xXDEATHXx.  By the end of 2008, he had joined Red Alliance, one of the oldest alliances in the game (CVA being the other).  RA had fallen on hard times in early 2008 and was beginning to rebuild again.  At the time, RA had just grown from an alliance of maybe 500 characters to an alliance of 1500.  In the following months, it went from holding about 50 systems and 12 outposts to a hundred systems and 15 outposts.  It was a rapidly growing, powerhouse.  It had strong ties with Goonswarm during this time of rebuilding (from an earlier collapse).  Silent Dodger road that wave to the top.  Fireknight stopped playing and Razdalbay left the alliance around the time Dodger joined.  As RA began growing again, xDeath and SOLAR diplomats began putting pressure on the loose collection of leaders and helped to put Silent Dodger in charge of the alliance.  Red Alliance prospered under his control.  It became very wealthy (some may say because of rampant botting) and began throwing its financial and numeric weight around and spread across an ever increasing number of systems.

Eventually, ties with Goonswarm soured.  Atlas and -A- became friendly with RA and with their assistance (beginning in early 2010), RA began growing again in the north, primarily Geminate.  After Atlas and -A- left Geminate, to focus on the new war against the Northern Coaltion, RA began consolidating the Geminate region, removing the smaller pets that had been placed in the region after the fall of Wildly Inappropriate. With the end of the failed invasion of the NC, several of the up and coming NC alliances needed space to grow.  All eyes turned to Geminate, which was ripe for the taking and lacking allies.

Red Alliances gains lasted a few months before they were replaced by RAGE Alliance and Majesta Empire.  Silent Dodger led Red Alliance back south again, having once more switched allies.  This time, joining the DRF as it moved against the crumbling Southern Coalition.  Red Alliance was given Scalding Pass and Wicked creek for their part in the war, and rapidly expanded from there.  As the DRF were finishing up in the south, the Northern Coalition began an invasion, primarily led by Morsus Mihi and RAGE, against xDeath’s Kalevala region.  After a few weeks of gains, the full weight of the DRF was shifted to this front and began pushing back.  Eventually causing the collapse and fall of the Northern Coalition in mid-2011.

Meanwhile, Against All Authorities had returned in the south.  The remnants of Atlas had reformed under the Cascade Imminent banner and both were rapidly expanding, putting them at odds with Red Alliance.  Silent Dodger once more called for DRF support and a war of attrition ensued against Against All Authorities and their allies, affectionately termed the A-Team.  The fighting wore on.  Between the stress of long deployment and other internal divisions within DRF, SOLAR and xDeath broke the coalition apart and began a war for sovereignty.  Once more, Red Alliance felt pressure from Against All Authorities.  When the Honey Badgers (PL, NCdot, and Test) were brought into the mix, the wars in the north and in the south changed.  Against All Authorities drive to remove RA faltered, then SOLAR was not only stopped from crushing xDeath, but lost the majority of their sov, eventually being pushed back into a corner in Cache.  Red Alliance was now trapped between pressure from a vindictive SOLAR Alliance and an angry Against All Authorities.  Finances were likely trim, after having had to pay out for PL to assist in warfare for over a year by this point.

Now we are in the present.  A recording of comms was recently posted from Red Alliance.

Доджер говорит. by terrorgang

My understanding of the Russian language is… non-existent.  So, I have to rely on translated transcripts of what was said.  I’ve seen a few and they all seem to be saying the same thing.  We have confirmed that the voices are Nync, Silent Dodger, and PsixoZZ KAHI.  We have confirmed that we have a good interpretation of what was said.  I had hoped for more confirmation from individuals involved, but the story has moved from the Russian forums, and is already on the forums now. Just heard about a post on kugu as well now, so we’re going with what we have.  If it is a fake, it is a very elaborate one.

Silent Dodger > The main news, that I think we should start with, is that I am abandoning the post of Red Alliance CEO. And now, to what is the reason for this.

I initially wanted to tell a long story explaining the what, why, and how, but let’s go over the main points. I came to RA, basically, at a time when there was no leadership. That is, when FIREKNIGHT quit EVE, and stopped running gangs, when RAZDOLBAI [no idea who – ed.] wanted to, or didn’t want to sell [the alliance? – ed.]… I don’t know, but nevertheless, when the alliance was left without a command structure.

The alliance was dear to me, it was already dear to me then. I started playing EVE to lead, well, not lead, but to play for RA. So I became the CEO. Basically, I became the CEO with mactep’s [Solar Fleet CEO – ed.] blessing. He said that… if you can remember, at that time we had no allies, there was some shaky relationship with xxDeathxx, and when I came to talk to mactep he said “I don’t want to deal with FIREКNIGHT, how about you become the CEO”. I said “ok”. You all know and remember what happened after that.

My idea for the alliance was to build an independent, politically powerful, and strong empire. This was reflected in my demands for space, for the number of supers, and pilot skill. We accomplished that goal, in my opinion, by the end of last year [2010 – ed.]. That is personally my opinion.

I wont mention all the stories, all the battles, everything that happened someone might have good connotation someone bad.

I consider that what was reached by the alliance in terms of political and military capabilities was a worthy result. As an end goal for my job, I think that I reached the level that I wanted to reach. To repeat, this is the situation at the end of 2010. What happened starting the following summer will be discussed separately.

During the Northern campaign again NC, a situation arose where i had nothing to do in EVE. I’ll explain why. When you become the CEO of an alliance, your ego levels peak. Despite what anyone would say, this happens to everyone. And when you realize that you are the CEO of the alliance, and a situation arises where Psihozz [ White Noize CEO – ed.] starts to do everything. And when you give him the command over all of your alliance members, you begin to understand that there can only be one leader, and that leader is Psihozz, because he is leading and doing the brunt of the work. The wish to play, to lead something, basically disappears.

xxx > Were you offended [by Psihozz actions – ed.]

Silent Dodger > No, I was not. I ask to take my words literarily. I am not going to blame anyone. Nor was I in any way offended. I just lost interest. I had no reason to play anymore. And slowly I started to drift away from the game.

Around that time, my mother had some health problems, and, basically, that was when I joined the ranks of RMT. I sold my first titan. My first Ragnarok which you all can remember.

yyy > Two people are already recording, I don’t thing…

Silent Dodger > I know. I don’t care, I will tell it how it was, and you can judge after that.

I just want everyone to understand the motivation that I had. After that, closer to summer, I took a prolonged vacation and said that I will return in a few months, but that didn’t happen.

I didn’t just leave for real life, I left to work. To the regional government of Samara. I managed to stay there for three (3) months, and i think that this vacation, well first of all it coincided with the Northern Campaign. And second of all it coincided with a situation where I took on some financial obligations in real life which significantly affected my further actions and decisions. Basically I took a loan to buy a car. With the expectation that I would have a great wage, everything would be okay, and etc. etc.

When I came to work, i realized that, first of all, to have any say in anything there I would have had to work there for at least 20 years. Second of all, it’s a system where, by default, you’re assumed to be shit, and all your experience and knowledge is irrelevant – you just have to obey. My character isn’t very good at obeying others. So, after three (3) months I quit the job, with my head held high, but my financial obligations remained.

And that was when I luckily, well, “luckily”, met some people who were professionally involved with RMT. And they offered to help me. To convert ISK into real money. That was how it began. During the next 3 months I quietly moved ISK into real life money; my own, on my corporation’s wallet, some people even donated. Who knew about my situation helped how they can.

Later what happened was that the ISK exchange rate fell, i.e. the lower the exchange rate, the more ISK I needed. Eventually in January I took 60kkk from the alliance wallet. I believe that if i hadn’t done that, then RA financial situation right now would have been slightly better.

At the same time, I began to notice that I cannot lead fleets, because I join a fleet and do not know what to do. My pvp skill fell to zero because I basically didn’t play since the northern campaign. Hence I couldn’t demand anything from pilots.

Everyone can remember my recent login during a CTA against Solar. When I ran several OPS for a week, lost a couple of fleets and disappeared.

I actually got sick, which was the reason for my disappearance. But the fact is that after that I had absolutely no desire to return to EVE. Basically, thats it.

My leaving is linked to… from the bottom of my heart… i still love RA, and I understand that I hurt RA, and can only hurt it more. For these reasons I think that I should remove my roles, while there is still a chance of fixing the situation. I wont say that i had no support, it was a very difficult time for me, but no one knew of it.

I want the new CEO of RA, at least for now, to be Lenton. Until there is a new, real one. I consider him to be adequate. As a person, he is very different from me, he is much more calm, but he is a good leader, and internally the situation in the alliance should be ok in my opinion.

Before you start asking questions, I want to wish you all luck. What will happen to me personally I don’t know. I will leave my characters in RA, unless you kick them, and will try to solve my real life problems. With my current situation, I can’t help you [the alliance – ed.].

zzz > Dodger, don’t you think this all smells like betrayal?

Silent Dodger > Probably you’re right, i won’t say anything. You’re right, its a betrayal, but I can’t do anything for the alliance right now. Just because if I login right now and lead a fleet, the situation wont change for the better. I think it will be worst.

Kugu provided a slightly different translation:

DODGER: The main point, and I think that’s what I’ll begin with, is that I’m resigning as CEO of Red Alliance, and now I’ll tell you why.

At first, I wanted to tell you the whole story of what why and how, but let’s just go over the main points.

I joined Red Alliance when no one was really in power, just after Fireknight stopped logging in and leading fleets and Razdalbay wanted to sell RA, or at least I think so. Anyway, this was when the alliance had no leadership, and I already loved it back then, I felt part of it.

The only reason I logged in then was to lead it, well not lead it, but play in it.

I then became the CEO, and in truth I became CEO because of MACTEP. If you remember, we didn’t have any allies back then and the situation with UAxDEATH wasn’t clear. I then went to talk to MACTEP, and he said, roughly speaking – “I won’t deal with Fireknight, so why don’t you become CEO”.

I said OK, and well, you know the rest of the story.

My vision for the alliance was the creation of an independent, influential and powerful alliance. It was evident in my territorial claims, in the number of supers, and roughly speaking, skill.

That vision became a reality towards the end of 2010. That’s my personal opinion.

Ignoring all the drama, the rumours and KB’s – some may have positive memories – some may have negative memories. What the alliance achieved in the political sphere, and the military sphere – I consider a respectable result.

Looking back, I think I got the alliance to the level I wanted it to be at.

To repeat – what I am talking about is the period up to last winter. What happened since – well I’ll go over that now.

I’ll be honest – towards the end of the war against NC, I had absolutely nothing left to do in the game. When you become the CEO of your own alliance – you sense of self-importance goes through the roof. Whatever anyone says about that – it happens to everyone.

Eventually, Psixozz took all responsibilities on to himself. And when you give him your members, and declare that only one person will be in charge, and that is Psixozz – you lose all will to play, to command.

TARD 1: Did you get upset?

DODGER: No, no, I didn’t get upset. Take my word literally, I didn’t get upset – I just lost all will to play, and began to stop logging in.

About the same time, my mother began to have health problems, and that is when I joined the ranks of RMT’ers – and sold my first Titan. It was the Ragnarok that you all remeber.

TARD 2: You do realize people are recording this?

DODGER: Yes, I know, I know.

TARD 3,4,5,6,7,: asdmoqwimeofmomf

DODGER: I don’t care. Guys, I told you I will tell you everything as it is,

TARD 2: Stop interrupting him. He obviously has a lot of thoughts – don’t interrupt him.

DODGER: I just want you to understand what motivated me.

Towards summer – I told you all I was going on vacation and would come back in a few months – and that didn’t happen.

I went to work for the Samara local government. I lasted just 3 months. And that was when everything changed. It happened about the same time as the conflict with NC.

Basically, real life finances became troubling due to debt – I bought a car on credit.

Obviously, I thought I would be making a lot of money – but when I went to work I understood that you have to work 20 years before you decide anything. It’s a system where you are considered shit – and all your skills and knowledge don’t matter. It’s a job where you just have to obey – which my personality didn’t allow me to do. This is why after 3 months I quit with my head held high.

But I was still in a lot of debt. This is when I luckily, well luckily in brackets, ran into a group of people who are professional RMT’ers. They offered to work with me, and exchange ISK for real life cash. That’s how it all began.

Over the course of about 3 months, I began to take cash from the corp wallet, my wallet, from gifts – whoever knew helped as they could. What happened then was that the ISK exchange rate collapsed – meaning more ISK for less money. Eventually in January I took 60 billion ISK, and I think if I hadn’t done that things in the alliance would have been much better right now.

Concurrently, I began to notice that I couldn’t lead fleets anymore. I didn’t know what to do – what to tell people. My skill as a pilot fell to 0 because I hadn’t played since the war against NC. And obviously I couldn’t demand anything of anyone.

Many of you remember my CTA’s against SOLAR, when I welped a couple of fleets and stopped logging in. I was actually ill but after that I just didn’t want to come back.

My exit now is because I still care about RA, but I understand that I’ve done bad and will do bad for the alliance.

TARD 3: So THATS who fucked up the price of ISK (this cracked me up)

DODGER: This is why I’m giving up my responsibilities, while things can still be fixed.

I won’t say that I didn’t have support – I had it difficult but no one knew.

I want the next CEO of RA, at least for now, to be Lenton, as believe he’s a competent person. His personality is very different to mine – he’s much calmer and unemotional, but he’ll make a great leader. So before your questions, I just want to wish you luck. I don’t know what’ll happen to me, but I’ll leave my characters in the Alliance – if you let me.

I’ll now focus on sorting out my problems in real life, which is why I won’t be of any help to the alliance right now.

That’s it.

TARD 3: Can we ask questions in the channel?

DODGER: Yes.

TARD 3: Dodger don’t you think you’re betraying the alliance?

DODGER: No, not really. Actually, you’re probably right – but there’s nothing I can do for the alliance. Things won’t get better if I say.

TARD 3: Dodger I know who you are. I know how you led gangs and fleets. But to dump the alliance during a war, on the brink of failure. You got the alliance where you wanted, and respect to you for that my dear brother. But you’re leaving the alliance on during a war, on the brink of failure. And that seems like betrayal to me, no?

TARD 4: What do you say?

TARD 5: I don’t agree

Tard 6: Guys, we talked for a long time. Dodger isn’t leaving the alliance, he’s keeping his characters in. He’s just officially doing what everyone expected.

TARD 3: But now? At this time?

TARD 4: Dodger isn’t quitting, he’s just handing control to someone who logs in.

TARD 5: Nothing changes.

TARD 3: RA and Dodger are one whole.

TARD 4: No, that’s a different RA.

TARD 7: Can I have a word please? The situation is that it was predictable. There is a minus – that Dodger led RA. No one else has the talent.

TARD 3: Dodger just needs a break, maybe the lack of responsibility will let him lead fleets again.

TARD 2: Let me have a word about betrayal. I don’t know if this is it, but it would have been more of a betrayal to stay in power without doing anything or offering anything to you – and leaving you with hopes of something that won’t happen. His only fault is that he didn’t do this earlier, when the alliance was stronger.

TARD 4: Maer, can’t you see that were losing? We’re losing, we fucked up.

TARD 5: Well if you stop saying we’re losing, we would stop losing so much.

TARD 2,3,4,6,7,8,9…: I agree.

TARD 6: Him telling all of this to us is a very respectable thing. People always have problems in real life.

TARD 4: None of us know how much trouble he had in real life. He’s just 26, he spent 4 years on EVE. Many of us spent that period creating something.

TARD 5: Why are you telling me what life is? I know it. I don’t care about his RMT, we can all give him money. But why leave now? Why betray the alliance?

TARD 6: The alliance has survived without him for a year, what’ll change? Nothing.

TARD 8: He’s a symbol. Not an FC, just a symbol of the alliance. He’s a status symbol, a political icon. I don’t see who can replace him and talk to all the pluses and minuses.

TARD 3: No you’re wrong. We only lose the symbol, that’s it.

TARD 6: Dodger is saying he can’t speak now, he’ll be back in a bit. He can’t talk at the moment.

TARD 9: Skotenok, can you repeat, will he lead fleets again?

TARD 4: He can’t, he isn’t capable of leading fleets any more. We agreed he will give up his roles, and maybe he’ll come back as he was, without pressure. Maybe he’ll see EVE as it was for him two years ago before becoming CEO.

TARD 9: So he’ll try to return?

TARD 4: Yes, if he can. It’s like what happens to us, we log in and we have a shitload of messages, roles, responsibilities. It’s a job. Maybe he’ll be able to get fun out of the game again.

TARD 5: So you admit you’re incompetent?

TARD 4: No I didn’t say that.

THE END.

Take from this what you will.  But all signs point to this being another collapse of Red Alliance.  The impact of this change could have dramatic ramifications across null sec, as this changes the balance of things in the East as well as the South.  It is an easy “i win” for Against All Authorities in the same way that Goons were able to easily exploit the weakness of leadership in WN for a quick win.  SOLAR will then have AAA at their back, and the fight with xDeath may stabilize or reverse, even with PL’s assistance, which may or may not be available with NCdot and Raiden fighting Goons and Test in the North West.

Against All Authorities diplos have released a statement about Silent Dodger’s announcement:

Dodger left RA confirmed

He made announcement today ( but was decided a while back)
http://soundcloud.com/terrorgang/bwthdyzrckpj

He also confirmed that he RMTed alliance wallet for a while
and his titan. This is in audio from today during RA ally meeting.

RA will not collapse.

RA new leadership are fine dudes. they will see the changes through.

Thoughts?  Conspiracy theories?  Jokes?  Trolls? Post em up ladies and gentlemonkeys.

      Well, moron yourself,

One of the MAJOR reasons that RA is begining to push back against -A- is PL & Friends. If you happened to read the text of the article, and it's included transcript, you would have, perhaps, noticed that RA is a bit of a financial straight – "Eventually in January I took 60 billion ISK, and I think if I hadn’t done that things in the alliance would have been much better right now."

If RA is in money trouble, and it comes to effecting their ability to pay PL, how do easy DO YOU think it will be for -A- to roll over a broke, demoralized, and leaderless RA?

Let me enlighten you since that translation script is not even close to perfect.
RA had problems coming up with their share for PL's contract that's why so far they have not received as much assistance as XIX has. But saying RA is broke is dumb on so many levels.. They still get rent from Scalding,Insmother,Wicked,Detorid(part of it),Drone Region and then their is tech moon income.. So tell me with maybe as little as 300-600b per month how the fuck are you broke? Besides -A- has been broke for ages let them lose a few more tengu fleets and there goes the reinbursement.

Financially tight is a relative thing, depending on what you need to pay for. "Broke" means no money. They might be sitting on billions, but if RA can't make the PL payment, then they are financially tight.

            February 8, 2012 at 8:59 pm
          2. David Star

An Alliance brining in large amounts of renter income and still be broke (or close to it). It all depends on how that wealth is distributed. It could be in liquid assets (ISK) or tied up in inventory, infrastructure, and salaries. Sure, RA might be getting "as little as 300-600b" per month, but all that might be going to replacing ships, upgrading sov, and paying of PL. RA likely has a high amount of their rent flowing to financial obligations, and very little to liquidity (and liquid assets are what pay PL)

So, it all comes to that tipping point of when RA's financial obligations are taking too much of their income. This could lead to a shortfall in liquid assets (spendable ISK) and a shortfall in liquid ISK leads to PL not getting paid. That is how the fuck you can be broke. And, if RA can't meet its PL bill, then it looses it major strategic (force projection) and tactical (effectively flown tengus, caps and SCs on grid) advantage that it has over -A-. The major differences here between -A-and RA is: -A-can fund it's war effort without having to 1) meet a huge PL bill and 2) pay a HUGE sov bill -a bill which is getting more difficult to pay as Red Citizens continues to shrink and AAA citizens grows.

The thing is.. RA makes money on the renters.. and RA does not protect their renters.. that means the renters will stop paying.. this happen to Atlas when they had this space to.. once the renters smell blood then they stop pay..and RA can't do jack shit about it. RA is not in a state where they can start removing none paying renters. So the isk can dry up very fast. Everyone else then RA has been their military power.. so let them die.. lets see what that does for 0.0.. maybe some changes for once.

I would love to see some changes to the blocs.. its so fucking boring.. its like these old dinosaurs from EVE's beginning can't get a fucking life and move on.. they are old and static.. more interested in keeping their RMT empires under control then have fun playing the game. This is why they wont fight or take the risk of fighting.. because a game that suppose to be a fun thing turns into making real money to put food on your table.. how fucked up is that? EVE is about WAR not about making real money for your sick mom or what ever.. your fucking up the game for everyone else.

What they need to fix is not their fitting EFT-Hero they need to fix their FC's to not be dumb enough to get bubbled with bombers on grid:)

the fix is shield resistance amplifies, ie shield resistance without the need for cap…EFT hero for the win!!

There is a lot of sympathy here for an alliance leader who according to his own words: stole isk from his members and RMTed it to pay for the car loans he couldn't afford after quitting his job because he didn't like being told what to do.

    Good riddance.

He took a fledging alliance and transformed it into one of the most powerful entities in EVE, and managed to develop them to survive through hard times. While I do not approve of RMTing and it is disappointing that he participated in it, I have a great deal of respect for him for coming clean about his actions.

He can use his time away from internet spaceships to make his life better, and maybe one day come back with higher hopes and a cleaner conscience.

RA is one of the oldest sov holding alliances in the game. The only other alliances in nullsec close to the same age are CVA and Stain Empire. They are the opposite of a fledgling alliance.

Although I generally disapprove of RMT. It is a game and using it to help someone dear to you I can't say I don't approve. People should do whatever it takes to help those closest to them.

I would agree except he used the same logic a drug dealer uses. At first it was just to help his Mom. Then he somehow was able to afford a car. Then he had a job but he couldn't take it cause wait…..he had to take orders……oh the horror listening to your boss and senior staff. I would agree that if he was in a hard place and needed to help his Mom that is something I can sympathize with but clearly that wasn't the case. He was simply looking to make money cause he doesn't want to hold down a real job. Hopefully he will grow up a little and come back again. I know I enjoyed fighting his alliance more before they started sucking.

As an aside: hardeners run for 30 seconds. How is neuting someone's cap going to matter unless you continually neut it to zero. A single bombing run doesnt affect hardeners. They are only going to shut off if you caught them with the void bomb just as the module cycled. Or do voids prevent cap charge for a period of time as well? That is the only way I can see voids having such an effect.

or void bombs hit seconds before bombs do, than no cap to turn on 4 hardeners.

See voids -> turn on hardeners.

Or cycle hardeners so they don't all cycle at the same time.

One of my earliest EvE PvP memories was running from a fleet of RA that overmatched us to no end. We safed at a planet, and as a fleet mate said we really need to move I heard 'there they are'. It was Silent Dodger in a dramiel and he came straight at my malediction. He harassed us for a while during that period, but was professional about it. Good player, will be missed.

"After a few weeks of gains, the full weight of the DRF was shifted to this front and began pushing back. Eventually causing the collapse and fall of the Northern Coalition in mid-2011."

No … DRF was getting its asses handed to them so they went whining to PL to '/console IWin'. And now here we are today. Interesting how its come back around.

To be fair, it took DRF, NCdot, PL, Raidendot, game mechanics, bad super FCs, inactive alliances, and much more for the NC to fall. PL was one small piece of that, unlike their role against AAA and SOLAR of late.

Actually DRF was fighting very well before PL came. Why they made no progress was because they had no hope of matching NC in USTZ (where they timed most of their structures). The fight was a stalemate (neither did the russians made any forward progress, but nor did the NC retake O2O) when PL joined
