Yesterday CCP ran another live event, in it they left Polaris in a massive fleet of Abbadons. This live even had an interesting twist on it, CCP was to run a Polaris convoy to an undisclosed location and publicly told the players to pick a side, either the players could choose to form a defense fleet and help the Polaris Fleet to reach their destination or they could go down in flames while trying to get some booty.

CCP Backstabs EVE players… and it was GOOD.

This time they wisely picked a Null Sec system (Y7-XFD @ Great Wildlands) with an active incursion in it, which left the battlefield in a defacto sub-capital ship only scenario. We won’t ruin the ending for you, so we encourage you to watch.

We thank Vincent for the awesome video-report. If anyone happens to have a copy of the Local Smack, I would appreciate an e-mail with it. ;)

i'd like to see PL do a hotdrop, and then CCP counter hotdrops with their overpowered caps :P

agreed, a jovian fleet bridging into PL's main supercap fleet and completely annihilating it would be a good thing for eve as a whole.

or, even better, CCP turns this into a gargantuan event where they try and get as many supers as possible, not just from PL, and completely wipe them out (100x old style DDs anyone?)

EVE without supers is a good thing, i remember the old days where battles were decided by ships with COUNTERS to them (i define a counter as something that can soundly beat another ship, given the same numbers (Arty Baddons countered Logi Heavy fleets, Huginns countered Nano Fleets, Hellcats are countered by massive EM/Therm resists and a crapload of armor, ect).

I personally want to see motherships back the way they were before dominion, double the damage and triple the HP of carriers.

Plus, anything that will shake up the blue NAPfest thats currently in the majority of 0.0 is a GOOD thing.

People helped out Sansha during Incursions since the begining why would helping CCP be any different? Plus I think CCP offered some cookies they never delivered.

just how do you "help out Sansha"? Did you mean to say "gate camp" because that isn't new with incursions.

Greifers have figured out multiple ways… most involve targeting logi's… I recall a few other straegies too.

Honestly, from the sound of the video. PL weren't even going to steal the loot. It sounds like they were letting them get to the destination and letting the pubbies get rewarded. Once they heard the pubbies got back stabbed by CCP, PL moved in for the pvp smack down.

Really if CCP hadn't back stabbed the fleet that escorted them, I don't think PL would of even shown on the field. They were given a chance to reward non-superstar pvpers, and they threw it away for lulz.

I think CCP is secretly a pirate alliance.

+++ to CCP for this; it seems their intentions here are solid. who cares about loot and stuff – it lets the guys actually PLAY the game with us a bit, which is pretty cool in itself, and might give them some added perspective on things, which can only help everyone in the long run.

to the whiners: 1) welcome to pvp, and b) stop being so goddamned self-centered. think of these events as Little Incursions with a twist. it took some time for people to get organized and used to Incursions and now look at them – players have streamlined ways to work together efficiently while farming the shit out them regardless of alliance affiliation. if these live events keep going, i'm sure the dynamic will continue to change over time as both "sides" adjust and more players get involved. in any case, the events can hardly be considered a bad thing.

how many "sides" do you think it will take to not get slaughtered by PL or Gooons……..these are pvp events not some carebear incursion

I doubt any of the major players are going to slaughter their way through to many of these, simply because it helps to achieve one of the major goals in nullsec… get more people out there pvping so that its more fun. These events are a great way for carebears to get their feet wet in nullsec by joining a horde, which will show them that null isn't the deathtrap they mostly think it is.

I'm hoping the next major live event is to crash a major nullsec battle. Maybe some of the 3 way fights I am hearing about in the south.

It was actually a Half PL Half Test Fleet, it was an AMAZING battle, fighting CCP against their OP ships for 30 mins was the most intense shit i have ever done and it was amazing.

Hats down to CCP for a good fight.

PS: The guy speaking on the video is a awful commentator, the fight was really great and it deserved a better show off.

This. Not only was it a good fight, but it was really fucking hard. That PL link doesn't show all the dudes we lost and doesn't show that we slugged it out for over an hour before we left the field to regroup. It was at this time that NCdot dropped in and CCP began to lose a lot.

Even though it ended poorly for me, it gave me a reason to venture into 0.0 for the first time. Even though that reason was to sneak in with a cheetah and ninja loot something, that was enough for me. My hat is off to CCP for that. However, being cloaked and nowhere near anything else, then uncloaked and immediately blown up – I have to wonder what perks the CCP fleet give themselves before a fight.

Watched the whole thing from the comfort of my cloaked Falcon. lol'd at CCP shooting their escort as soon as they hit nul. Then lol'd some more when pod killmails showed that CCP clones had full sets of Aura implants and other assorted EHP boosting stuff. Abbadons with 200k+ EHP and lots of Guardians. They actually took it to TEST/PL fleet and made them run away. PUG fleet was terribad. Little discipline and crappy comms (Eve Voice fail, had to relog and it died on me again after a couple minutes.). FC bailed at the first sign of trouble.
